GSL: We all know you're a student -- not that many other people here are. Me imparticular. I wasn't insinuating anything.

B/c MAC has X11 on it and is "linux compatible". IMHO, that alone makes it a better OS than Windows...stability and whatnot thrown aside. The reason I don't get one? I've paid for expensive licenses on Windows (Photoshop and Flash are two) and online poker and the two games I play on my PC don't have Mac versions.

a friend of mine had a beta version of xp pro he was given to use at his work. it was great.

then i bought xp pro when it was released...it was crap. since then ive had some experience on xp home, which has got to be one of the worst operating systems windows has sold.

i dont remember that much about the beta version, but i do remember that it was much smaller in size, used less memory, and seemed to be really fast and powerfull...and easy to use. it didnt have as many 'services' or any of the useless software that got loaded in on my version of xp. and you didnt need to log on to the internet to install it.

i have a mountain of old macs, all working networked and online. some of them run linux. the operating systems use like 1-16 megabytes and they would all be stable as a rock if they hadnt stoped updating java.
