    Hey there :)

I always loved those two games:

    Hugo's house of horror
    [IMG]

    And Goosebumps escape from horrorland:

The beuty of those games are those cliché eyes on the windows, the scarecrow in goosebumps.

Since it's almost halloween time and I don't have halloween here in Brazil I want to play a few child spooky games like those.
Those two are very nostalgic to me so they will always come first but you guys can add more to the list.
    What do you guys recommend?

Was the Goosebumps one a sort of first person shooter thing where at one point you hit a pile of leaves with a rake? Because I remember playing a Goosebumps game like that.

One I remember from my childhood is Monster Bash, that zombie in the intro used to scare the shit out of me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfA2TF2JUD0

I never saw that part of goosebumps because you can end the game without visiting everything but yeah, it's the first person stuff you said.

Nice one!! Monster Bash is on the list :)

Luigi's Mansion, dude. Spooky, kid-oriented, awesome graphics, incredibly fun (though short). It's possibly my favorite Gamecube game.

Yeah, Left4Dead is not close to what I've meant hehehehe

Luigi's Mansion! Maybe this will be the game to play tonight :))

By the way, I saw the dracula review that AVGN did and that VIC20 text only dracula game seems to be very nice :))

Before opening up another thread I'll use this one to ask..

how THE HELL do I play games on the WinVICE emulator?

    I'm starting the VIC20 emulator that's called xvic.exe
and trying to load a rom:
Count Adventure, The (JUE) (SYS 32592).40

So it loads and stays there, no game, no nothing.

Can someone help me to play this game?

Are the games you are trying to play DOS based or Win95 based?

I think this is a rom dumped from the cartridge.

I'm on windows if that's what you asked, not sure.

    So far:

    Game name
    The Count Adventure
    Company
    Commodore [Vic-1917]
    Author
    Andy Finkel (1981)
    Game Type
"Scott Adams Adventure Games" series. (#5 of 5.)
    Required
16k RAM (8k each in banks 2 and 3). Keyboard controlled. The game starts when you type "SYS 32592" and hit the RETURN key.
    Ad Text
"You wake up in a large brass bed in a castle somewhere in Transylvania. Who are you, what are you doing here, and WHY did the postman deliver a bottle of blood? It's LOVE AT FIRST BYTE!" (Seen in "Commodore Power Play" magazine, Spring 1983, page 105)
    Comments
See the entry for Adventure Land Adventure for more information on any of the games in this series.

    and here:
Some Scott Adams text adventures need "special" handling: (taken from deadwebsite):
Use full memory expansion and "Virtual Device Traps" (which is the default).
    POKE44,16:pOKE56,30:pOKE4096,0:new
POKE648,30 (hit Runstop/Restore which is Esc/PgUp in WinVICE)
    LOAD"4.Voodoo Castle",8,1
    SYS32592

I'm stuck in the load voodoo castle, since I don't know what the inner name of the rom is.

    GRRRR

    It's not a dos game, it's a commodore vic-20.

Anyway, it worked using a prg image and some letters are scrambled.
Found it for free in a website:
    http://www.freearcade.com/Zplet.jav/Count.html

It's the same game but not the same feeling
