Hey there guys i hope you can help me out in this, im currently making a review for a saturn game and i make a introduction to the saturn in the beginning of the video for that part i would like to have some saturn commercials rolling by mainly european and US ones, but i can only find commercials at 240p and rarely at 360p and beeing my video at 720p it kinda makes it impossible to use 240p, 360p can be manageable. I have been looking arround on youtube and google, and i allways come across the same things over and over again. So i ask do any of you guys knows a website with good quality saturn commercials?

    Thank you for your help.

Wouldn't expect to find good quality footage of things that most likely only exist as video tapings of 15-year-old TV broadcasts. But you could try this site: http://gameads.gamepressure.com/

have you tried retrojunk.com? i found a lot of old video game commercials there. the quality on a lot of them aren't terrible considering the household technologies available.

I've never seen any European Sega Saturn commercial, bar the official Director's cut of the launch commercial.
This was provided on the VCD which came with the VCD-card. If you haven't found it yet, I could always up the MPG.

    EDIT:
...and then there's the short clip of the Saturn version of Shenmue: this was on disc 4 of Shenmue 2 I think?

EDIT: just noticed that the system commercial is there.

To my knowledge, here is a complete list of UK television advertisements for the Sega Saturn:

    1. "Finishing Touch" (launch spot, also featured in a director's cut on the Video CD Card sampler)
    2. NiGHTS (shows you how to use the stunt ribbon to increase your score)
    3. Sega Worldwide Soccer '97 (shows you how to perform the overhead flick)
    4. Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition (shows you how to perform a powerslide)
    5. Fighting Vipers (shows you how to remove your character's armour)
    6. Club Saturn (yes, this album of remixed game music received its own commercial!
    7. Manx TT SuperBike (shows you how to race as a sheep)
    8. Sonic R (shows you how to unlock Super Sonic, though not accurately)

So far, only the Sonic R clip has yet to surface online from what I can tell, and many of the others listed above can be found along with a Virtua Fighter 3 preview teaser on the "Sizzle" VHS cassette given out to console owners who registered through Sega Europe in early 1997. According to several magazines and websites back in the day, this videotape's contents were also broadcast late one night on Channel 4, with an expensive print ad taken out across various national publications to alert fans of this infomercial's broadcast date and time. I believe that in the past Yakumo was looking to upload this, although it's now available in high resolution thanks to a group preservation effort by some of the guys over at the Sega Saturn UK forum.

In addition to the aforementioned Finishing Touch, agency McCann Erickson produced at least one controversial radio commercial for Virtua Cop (through its Eardrum media group) plus a handful of early print ads and even a politically-themed Virtua Fighter image that was projected onto the side of the Parliament building in Westminster. Sega then briefly hired Nelson Bostock Communications to handle its main share of marketing, with its most memorable effort being the fake tax disc made available to celebrate Sega Rally becoming the fastest-selling CD game ever (surpassing Destruction Derby and finally beaten by Tekken 2, Formula 1 or Resident Evil, I seem to recall). If this name seems familiar, you're probably the owner of a "silver" promotional disc, since these often came in a plain white envelope featuring a return address that mentions Nelson Bostock.

Over the last few months of the Saturn's life, Sega Europe continued letting McCann create new print ads while the newly-founded HHCL Brasserie handled its television commercials. I'm not actually sure who was responsible for the brief Club Saturn spot, but all of the others were the work of HHCL's then-recent offshoot, led by Liz Whiston and Dave Shelton, both now directors at promotional startup company Summer. As you can probably tell, I've spent a long time researching Sega's limited advertising during the Saturn era, and to date I've only seem a handful of screenshots from the Sonic R clip. There may actually be more, though I'm not really holding my breath since these are the only examples covered by journalists at the time. On the other hand, I seem to recall there being a Virtua Cop 2 advert, or am I just confused because this was released around the same period as NiGHTS, SWWS '97, Daytona USA CCE and Fighting Vipers?

Does anyone have a complete list of UK print ads? Better yet, could anyone provide these? I remember the "Aural Sex" billboard poster that was on a local bus stop, not to mention the "Hello, boys!" parody of the popular Wonderbra campaign featuring BUG! in lifestyle magazines. Also, there were a series of full-page adverts using such words as Ecstasy, Cheese and Respect, each with the stylised letter S as used in the Saturn's logo. I can't even begin to imagine how many adverts were paid for to announce in national newspapers when the console's price was regularly dropped to keep in competition with the PlayStation or Nintendo 64. Finally, there's one massive double page spread that I've also yet to see online that hit a regional newspaper during Easter '98. From what I can recall, this included the box art for what proved to be the Saturn's last real wave of high profile releases, including Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers and The House Of The Dead. If only someone had access to some of these - I would give anything to see a few of the rarest I've described once again...

P.S. Regarding US adverts, this is what I've been able to find out so far, but please don't consider this anywhere near as definitive a list:

    "Theatre Of The Eye" campaign
    1. "Bargain Matinee"
    2. "Film Festival - Sold Out"
    3. "Sega Sports Night"
    "A Little Too Real" campaign
    4. Virtua Fighter 2 (starring Bill Bolender as a cybernetically-augmented janitor!)
    5. Sega Rally Championship
    6. Virtua Cop (was this banned following a real life police shooting?)
"Nothing Else Matters" campaign (agency: The Mednick Group)
    7. "La Zona Blanca" ("The White Zone," featuring Virtua Fighter 2)
    8. "Armageddon" (featuring Panzer Dragoon Zwei)
    9. "Ear" (three free games promotion)
"Blood, Sweat and Tears" campaign? (this name is mentioned in several online articles)
    10. NiGHTS (music: [UNKNOWN TITLE] by Buckethead, artist confirmed)
    11. Fighting Vipers (music: Monkey Boy by M.I.R.V.)
    12. World Series Baseball II
    13. "PlayThing" (music: [UNKNOWN TITLE] by Buckethead?)
    14. "Pretendo" (music: [UNKNOWN TITLE] by Buckethead?)
    15. [UNKNOWN TITLE] (three free games promotion)
"Hard Stuff" campaign (agency: Foote, Cone & Belding)
    16. Last Bronx
    17. Sonic R (music: Forkboy by Lard, directed by Breck Eisner)
    18. NHL All-Star Hockey '98
    19. World Series Baseball '98
    20. NBA Action '98

Any help filling out the many gaps in this information would be very much appreciated.

That's your best bet, because it's digital.
