Google has recently started giving 15gb to all new users who join drive, as well as 25gb of Gmail space, but that is limited to 200mb files (don't quote me on that, it is late and I don't remember exactly. Drive storage can be used with any files with no size, upload or download limits. I have taken advantage of its capabilities by uploading movies to it and watching them on the go via the Google Drive app. I have come to love Google .inc. I hope you guys will take advantage of this as well, if you aren't already :friendly_wink:
I already have the drive browser extension for fanfiction story editing using Gdocs. (Currently working on 5 stories for different authors...) Might get the full deal and see how it works since I have a full profile and gmail account.
What are your feelings on GDOCS, I had to use it a lot during the school year, I am actually receiving a free chromebook for next year. I find it to be very glitchy and its lack for a functional spell-check is really a put down.
I read the Maximum PC review on the Chromebook and I would pass on it only taking one if it was free or near that. As for Gdocs, I love it. The spell check works good for me. It makes it easier to collaborate with the authors on their stories for my edits. Either me or them makes the story into a doc, set it so only those with link can see and edit, give the link to the other, and go from there. Makes exchanging stuff easier. Better than doing it by email...
I guess that's only for new users, as I already have Gmail and Drive, and my Gmail is still at 15 GB... Also, I remember reading that the 15 GB are shared between Gmail, Drive, Picasa, etc (ie. all Google services), but never bothered checking if that's true.
They arent giving you 15gb on drive. They are taking your 10gb for gmail and 5gb for drive and merging them. So if you use all 15gb on drive, you have no space for email and vice versa.
Ahh I see, I just made a couple new Gmail accounts and I don't plan to use them for things other than cloud so it works for me.
