Oh man. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/josh-silver/google-verizon-deal-the-e_b_671617.html?ref=fb&src=sp Your thoughts?
I hope this won't be allowed to happen, and european legislation will force the point. The US politicians are just too corrupt to do anything.
Google described it more like normal QoS methods, nothing to do with companies paying for privilege and that type of thing. In other words, it's probably meant for prioritizing traffic by bandwidth requirements in the US' already overladen, shitty network infrastructure.
Dear America, You seem to be thinking once again that an event happening in your country will affect the entire World (and the entirety of the Internet). This isn't going to be the case. You may not be able to regulate things properly, but we can. Regards, The other 95% of the World Yes, it sucks for you. Don't forget, America does NOT have the largest population. North America isn't even the largest continent (actually, North America has the second smallest population). As Kev says, it's likely we'll step in and say this is not something we want. Of course, I'm sure your citizens will do that, too - the millions that don't use Verizon as their ISP! It's not a good thing that this has been allowed to proceed this far, but it just points out the inadequacies of the US Government and the greed of Google, who changed their tune as it says in the article.
