Goplanes, A Sega Genesis Homebrew Game Project Hi, I thought maybe this might interest some. Shameless plugging ahead. I've been working on a game for Sega Genesis since February called Goplanes. It's a 2d side scrolling flying game. It's a kind of remake/port from the original version I did on PC back in 1996. You can find information about the original PC version here: http://www.xbattlestation.com/2DFS/game.aspx?id=goplanes You can find the progress thread on SpritesMind here: http://gendev.spritesmind.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1090 You can find the Goplanes development youtube channel here. http://www.youtube.com/user/djcouchycouch All the videos are of the game running off real hardware. This is a long term one man project. It won't see a release (in some form or another) until maybe late 2013. Most likely later. This is basically due to the limited time but not a day goes by that I don't work on it in some fashion. Thanks! DJCC
Awesome, keep it up. When I have more time I'll have a proper read / view of everything, and will likely have some questions!
No need for the apologies mate! Anyone working on these old game consoles should be congratulated me think! ^ ^
Looks good! Slow and steady does win the race after all! Keep up the great work and I'm sure we will all be playing some kick ass retro games in 2013-2014! :biggrin-new:

Added it to the background plane, which screwed up the colors of the normal background tiles, but oh well. It's just a test. Some of the tiles are screwed up because I probably didn't use PyxelEdit correctly. It can remove duplicate tiles, including ones that are rotated but that doesn't work on Genesis hardware, which only does horizontal and vertical flipping of tiles. Next steps are to reduce the number of unique tiles (there are many 1 or 2 pixel tiles), export them better, create sprites out of the moveable/animated parts (which will also reduce the number of duplicate tiles), and see if I can combine palettes.
