"The system software cannot be run correctly. Press the PS button to try to restart the system. If the system cannot be restarted correctly, the system partition of the hard disk must be reformatted and you must reinstall the system software. Insert storage media that contains update data 2.35 or later then press the start and select buttons at the same time" I don't want to install the current 4.10 firmware, I bought this old junker so I can run it as a media center. Any idea where I can get the OLD files for repairing this error?
Firmware 2.35 http://ps3.brewology.com/downloads/download.php?id=10284&mcid=4 Stick on a USB stick in a folder called \PS3\UPDATE (in caps).
didnt the slims come out with 3.00 on them? I personally wouldnt feel ok putting a software on it thats older than the hardware.
The best respectable site that I would get this from is ps3devwiki.com. It does appear to be down at the moment though. You can also get this file from the usual hack sites (PS3hax, or....PS3news *shudder*).
Mine came with 3.66 as well... when I started looking into the downgrade process, well... too complicated, and more expensive than expected. Plus, it's not guaranteed to work for FW over 3.60 IIRC...
I'll probably wind up throwing it on ebay. it took the 4.10 fw and works, just needs a hdd and laser. A bit too much work for me to care.
