To encourage the use of Steam among mac users everywhere (which is like NOBODY amirite? j/k) Valve decided to make Portal available for free until may 24. Macheads everywhere finally have the chance to play that awesome game everyone's talking about.............back in 2007 Now before you go all "WTF? what about PCs?" the game is also available for free on the "ballmer system" Linux users: you're SOL, sorry... GET IT HERE
Cheers for the heads up. Been wanting to try this- but really doubt my PC is going to cut it in the slightest..
Bonza  We'll see what the Mac Pro makes of this then. Do I have to use keyboard n' mouse, or can I use an Xbox 360 or PS3 pad somehow?
I got it free on a PC a few years ago. Good game. The Mac mouse is always going to be a weak link. I suppose you can use better ones though.
If you want it, better act now. When I was trying to get it it yesterday, the servers were being hammered and took quite a while before the download finished.
Thats more than enough, even for the rest of the Orange Box's games. You could play HL2 in a GeForce2 BTW. Wont be pretty, but it'll run. Every moocher out there who cant even torrent this game must be holding his/her turds in anticipation while the downloading bar moves at 1 pixel/hour:lol:
As long as it is tagged to your account you do not need to download. You just have to tag it to the Steam ID. The PC version is also free again during this period. Some of the new games released allow you to play the game on either PC or Mac (buy one version and play both). Mostly it is the indie stuff though. The game has to be in OpenGL.
Hey lets listen to that annoying song over and over and over again and talk about companion cubes and cake.
