    Hi,
im new to posting but a long time lurker and reckond now that i have a xdk maybe i will be able to contribute more and should sign up.

Ive just aquired a xdk after a few months of searching about.
its boxed with two controlers (small xbox style) and two interactive usb style controlers (1 boxed) as well as the dvd raptor card and hard drive also boxed. and some boxed japanease/uk scart cables. and a load of documwntation, the only thing missing is the software. what would be a good price for this? as im intrested to know if i got a good deal.

how do i know if its DVT3/4 is it from the xbox logo on top of the case? as mine just says xbox.

also what cable is needed to connect the raptor card to the xbox? is it a straight forward scsi lead?

what is the extra hard drive for (the one boxed with the raptor card)

i created a small app in visual studio 2003.net which compiles fine and builds correctly but fails to send it to the xbox. anyone have any experiance of this? as ive got a cross over cable to the xbox and can connect to it via explorer.

also there are a couple of unreleased games still on the system, as i dont want to loose these will it be ok, just to backup all the folders on the xbox via explorer? will there be any problems copying them over at a later date?

will post some pictures up tonight :)

sorry for all the questions but im really knew to the xdk :) not new to collecting/programming though :)

    cheers
    Jay.

Well if the dev kit has metal jewel its a DVT3,if it has a standerd xbox jewel its a
DVT4.And the cable for the raptor Im pretty sure its a scsi lead. The hard drive for the raptor card should be a 40 gb hdd.The raptor card with the 40 hdd is used to emulate the dvd drive on your dev kit.Its great for game dev's so they dont half to waste a dvd every time they want to test a game. Also what are the names of the unreleased games you have.

ah ok thanks its a DVT4 in that case then :)
the unreleased games are evil genius(looks like a straight forward pc port). and another game with no name. im guessing its one of Elixir Studio's ex machines used before they went bust becouse of this.
i will have to try and setup the dvd card and hd next then :)

    cheers

ive worked out how to run code on it, and fixed the copying error i was getting. does anyone know if theres a soft reset on the system? when running the demos or do you have to turn it of and back on every time?

    cheers

You can use Xbox Neighborhood to do warm and cold reboots.

I think the soft reset is you hold down the two bottom triggers
and press the black and white button at the same time.
