Ipod or Zune Kind of torn between the 2. Ipod is nice and all but I hate itunes Zune I'm sold on but I only met 1 person that has one so I wanted more opinions before I got one.
Yes, iTunes is balls. You can use Winamp, Amarok, or any other number of (far better) interfaces though.
You are aware that companies outside Apple and Microsoft do make MP3 players? :110: What sort of thing is the most important feature to you? If it's Audio or Video quality then maybe you should look at things like the Cowon iAudio D2 or Samsung YP-P2.
Space I need alot of space. I have 43 gigs of music right now that could easily double in the coming weeks and months. anything 120 gigs or above......to my knowledge Only Ipods and Zunes come in those gigantic flavors.
I had a Zune up until 2 weeks ago, it started to crash randomly and it was annoying as hell. But it was great IMO. After that happened I got an Ipod Touch and it really kicks the Zune's ass, the jailbroken apps are awesome, and the ipot screen is perfect for viewing series and movies.
well as barcode said they do have other nicer programs to manage you Ipod other than the crash happy Itunes program. But be cafefull if your a Linux user Appl has made a new database on the newest ipods and it refuses to sync on the newest ipod to any linux applications. I currently have a 30GB ipod video (black case) and I'll admit it I like my ipod but its anoying the crap out of me not being able to use a few applications to uplload pics/music on to it.
I kinda like Itunes...what is it that people hate about it? Does it use up a lot of RAM or crash a lot or something? Neither of those things have ever been a problem for me, to be honest.
Same... I love iTunes, and hacking the iPod touch is really fun. My friend had a Zune, but it crashed after a few months.
Get a Zune 120 use the Zune software for syncing music/movies/etc. use other software (or Zune software) for organizing and playing back music on computer (make sure to point the directories to the same folders)
I use Itunes to listen to my music, I like it more than Media player actually. Its in an easy to navigate system, no little windows for every little song you play like Winamp or whatever. Anyways, its not hard to right click on an audio file and tell it to only use a certain application for that type of file...
i've never had any problems with my iPods or iTunes. if you get a Zune, the average person will think it's an iPod anyways so... it's up to you.
This is kind of a tired topic, I'm certain it's been discussed here at length several times before now. iTunes is fine for a Mac but it doesn't fit the PC at all. The interface is ugly and incongruous with the OS, it defaults to ripping at 128kbit (ugh, thanks for ruining modern music, Apple), and it stores music in a ridiculously convoluted place by default. You can fix/put up with all those, but why bother? Foobar is superior - and it's much less bloated. iPods have always been overpriced and had shit audio fidelity (not that you'd know at the default iTunes ripping settings), though to be honest I haven't spent any time with the newer models so I couldn't say. Given the bullshit Apple pulled with the batteries, and general frailty of HDD-based iPods, I'd look elsewhere.
