Hi. I just bought a new gp32 blu on ebay, and as my first opensource handheld, i'm having all sorts of issues. I really just want to play some atari 2600 games at the moment, and while i've downloaded an emulator and some roms, I get an error message everytime. I've downloaded a handfull of freeware games, some play fine, some don't can anyone here hold my hand and walk me through the steps? also i'm using a mac, instead of a PC. ( I do not have a very technical background. Laymans terms appreciated)
I used to be really into the GP32 Scene but we're talking 7 years ago. What does the error message say? Let me know and I'll see if I remember. A good place to go for info is GP32x.com
well, I loaded the 2600 emulator featured on atariage, and scooped up a package of roms (also from AA) all in the BIN format. I loaded up a program that supposedly could read BIN files. Using a GZP file manager, I selected a rom file and as it begins to load I get "Error while loading". I've spent a few days looking around some Gp32 (archived) sites, but this is my very first foray into open-source anything, and I'm sure there's something I dont understand, installation wise.
try roms unpacked and try to re-download them. i had such errors on psp because windows was messing with the memory stick
Same here, I remember all the crap I had to do just to get Genesis games running halfway decent with no sound. The PSP really killed this one, and the GP2X
How are you copying the roms over? Are you dumping them straight to the GP32 via USB? Sometimes you can get errors if you do that as opposed to loading them off a SMC.
I went the UK GP32X.com meeting back in 2003, not only did I win the only existing black shell for the GP32 in a PCE Bomberman tournament but I also got given an exclusive Beta of a Megadrive emulator with fullspeed and sound. For reasons unknown it was another 6 months before it ever got released. The GP2X was cool but as soon as the PSP arrived it went the journey.
I know mame changes its rom names often which makes it very difficult to get games running. For the 2600 first check that the emulator you are using is completely up to date and compatable with your gpx. If your using some version from 2007 with latest roms that could be the issue. Maybe google the model you have with 2600 2010 and see what comes up.
