I am definitely not into the whole "room of doom" thing. In fact, quite against it. A game has to be very special to me to stick around if I don't think I'll ever play it again. On that note, I generally have a nice stack of 100 or so games across all consoles.

One thing I have grown a passion for lately, like several other people on the internet w/ pockets deeper than mine, unfortunately, is PCBs by Cave, perhaps the last company to put out high quality 2D games. (Okay, there's Gust, but their games are very cute). Collecting these things can be very painful. Cost involved gets very stupid. Yet, even after spending thousands, it doesn't take up as much space 10 or 15 console games, and have less impact on your chances of getting laid, assuming you use your closet, and are not married. Anyways, here's what I've gotten so far. Enjoy.

Dangun Feveron (Includes POP and instruction card. I'm missing at least 1 piece, other than the box).

ESPGaluda. I purchased this as a new full kit not long ago, intending to sell it, but never got around to doing so. I will likely hold onto it, as this game holds a special place in my heart as my first Cave 1CC and the game that got me into shooting games beyond the surface. Until this, I only enjoyed them aesthetically.

ESPGaluda II, purchased new. Also has a 2 meter (yes, 6 foot tall) poster, which is not shown.

ESPRade (includes instruction cards. Missing the box, which I'll likely never attain)

Guwnage (also missing only the box, which again, I'll likely never have)

Ketsui (The sleeper PCB. One of the few that actually went down to 30,000 yen, and then up to around 65,000 for board only). I actually have the complete kit including box now, but haven't updated the pics.

Mushihime-sama (A strange case where the PCB retains quite a bit of value 2 years after release, and after a port is released. Sick of the shortcomings of the PS2 version, I bought this recently. A complete kit)

Progear no Arashi (Cave's only yoko shooting game. Missing is a standard CPS2 box, which I think I'll get some day. Also included is the promotional manga strip which is a bitch to find. I got really lucky, even though it's far from mint).

Dogyuun (Not a Cave game, but is made by Toaplan, many members of whome went on to Cave after they closed). No sound emulation in Mame make this a great reason to buy a super gun or cab.

There's a lot of information on these games, including interviews, story translations, and all types of other shit at the translation section of gamengai.

    Godly collection.

What setup do you have for playing them on?

A Sigma AV7000 + 9000TB and an RGB monitor. Would love a cab, but don't have the space, or the divorce attourney to accomodate one.

Do you know much of the Toaplan->Cave transition?

This painstakingly translated article (bows) has probably the most official comments in any one place. There's not a lot of talk about it, but it does talk of the final days of Toaplan, and how at least one person, Junya Inoue, wound up going to work for Cave, and not Raizing as it were.

If you've not been to translation section of gamengai, then stop by. I pride myself in that it's probably the most resourceful English site on the internet in terms of Cave games.

Taken from the Miyamoto interview you translated (sorry for the threadjack). If I'm reading this right he's condoning SD flash RAM adapters that let you pirate GBA games. Am I right? That seems really weird, if so.

I'd have to look back, but at it. It might sound weird in English, but I'm pretty sure he's not urging piracy. :)

I think he was talking about the games made specially for the Play-Yan add-on. For the record they are not all that impressive, but better than your average mobile phone game.

Anyway awesome collection GaijinPunch. A real inspiration to all of us who love Cave.

That is pretty f-ing cool. I've always wanted to set up a nice arcade/pcb collection, but the price always put me off. Dangun Feveron is my favorite shmup, and one of my favorite games of all time!
