Someone's developping a playstation emulator for the gp2x! he first wanted to make it on psp, but since sony closed every doors to the alternative scene with the new firmware updgrades, he decided to switch to the gp2x. make you wonder if a n64 emu is possible.... a gba emu seems to be only a question of time.
If it emus PS1 at full speed, then it should also be able to emulate GBA at fulll speed. The trouble With PS1 emulating is size of images - FF7 would need 3x1gb cards! Also GBA is a curent system for nintendo :. more likely for it to receive the dreaded "Cease and Desist" letters
i doubt any official emulator for gba will be made, for now anyway. and if it's an homebrew emu, then game park holdings won't get in trouble, or it would be really stupid. you don't sue microsoft because there's gba emus on windows, right? playstation rpgs are not the kind of thing that would be easy and cheap to play on gp2x, but games like fighting games, shooters and racers wouldn't be that bad.
Actually, once you take out all the FMVs and convert the music to MP3, FF7 would probably fit on one 512MB card. With room left. ...word is bondage...
Im sold if this thing can emulate SNES, since thats all I wanted for a portable machine. Just wonder how or if it could run translated games in english that require patches...
Seeing how translated games are the original games, if an emulator can run original games, it can run translated games. The incompatibility problems with translated games are entirely at the fault of the translators who preform illegal hardware operations. Emulators often will not care about these things but actual consoles will crash. If the emulator is highly accurate, it will crash too. At least Dejap games will run on actual consoles.
Thats what I used, Dejap. Too bad they broke up and went off in all directions, they did great things.... O/T Emulation isnt quite what it used to be. Dejap is long gone, Cherryroms was hacked and they lost EVERYTHING except the boards, where people are banned if they ask for ROMs or where they went. I think its pretty asshole-ish and hostile to ban people who ask for stuff on a board that has had those ROMs for ages, and the title of the board still says "Largest Database of SNES Roms" That place is in crappy condition.
