I dont know if anyone else has been keeping up but a new release of Grandia 2 just hit Steam and GOG and so far the only difference I can tell are the upgraded Textures. Is there any way to rip the Textures from the new release and patch them into the DC version? I do understand this would be useless for a actual Disc release due to Size increase of the overall game. But would it be possible to do that and boot the game from USB-Gdrom , GDemu, or Dreamshell?
This is interesting. Someone would have to see how 'editable' the DC version is. And i'm unsure if there is a size limit for GDEMU/USBGD/SD. But if those two things aren't an issue the only other problem with that is converting the texures to PowerVR (not 100% sure of that) and framerate dips/lags. I see it being likely some textures could be upgraded, or all the textures could be downscaled slightly for the dc. But i don't see just taking the textures from the pc and porting them to dc going over too well. It'd likely make the game unplayable due to fps lag But what's even more interesting is seeing if the full texture swap would run, or how well it would run on an overclocked dc But who knows, this sounds interesting i may look into it if someone uploads all the textures lol
I understand where you are coming from.. and for what I have seen it really is just a DC port with new textures... What I find even odder is its locked at 30fps, locked at 4x3 resolution and only real graphics settings is upping the Textures to 1080p. I think the PC version even supports VMU save files.
Do you own the PC version? I'd be really interested in testing this. I'm installing an sd card interface soon and I've gotten a rough idea of modding/editing the files in a game. So having the sd card option would help quickly test Just seeing how that works in theory would be cool whether it works or not
