Hi, I'm a student in a graphic design (corporate identity, packaging, print, typo, web, and all the funny stuff ^^) school and always wanted to have a internship at HongKong. Next year will be my last year so... It's defintively important for me to find a good internship of 2 months. However, even if there are plenty of good stuff made there (about graphic design), I cannot find any crazy agencies or websites speaking about it, how frustrating... It's very frustrating because the only few I found just don't answer any email ^^. Anobody living at HK and could give me some names or tips/hints? Thank you very much Fonz
Of course, the degree is a start. I'm asking for help in this board in the case someone was graphic designer (or product designer, or web designer) at HongKong. I was replying to Gigolo, actually. As for anything "specific", I have no idea. As you have your sights very specified, you might need to be ready for a LOT of research, or disappointment. I don't know of HK being a powerhouse graphic design hub, but I don't know shit about the industry either.
I see No prob. Well, I'm pretty sure there is excellent graphic design stuff there... lot of bad stuff too ^^. But the activity seems so interesting and I'm searching for fresh air. I made some hours of researches already btw, only found few agencies and big international agencies... But as I would be more interested to work in a little agency with lot of crazy projects (identity,packaging,product,print ^^), I'm still disappointed to haven't found any... Japan can bring fresh air too but I only speak engrish (and French, of course LOL) and my little experience with Japaneses peoples shown that they may not speak English at all... Thx for your help
Are you thinking that you can speak English in Hong Kong? you can forget about it they speak worse english the the usual French guy ;-) so I guess that finding a small company were they probably only have Cantonese speaking staff will be very hard, I think that international companies are your only bet in finding a place were you don't HAVE to learn Cantonese to work there. If you want to stay in Asia and able to speak and work in English I would try Singapore instead of HK they speak better english ;-) but you'll have to quit with chewing gum as it's illigal :fresh:

But anyway, I'm very confident that my work is more based on the visual than on the speak Yeah, I've been at singapore like 15 years ago... Great memories there, but I'm not so sure I can find an appropriate place to live there. If some peoples have hints about SG, Its interesting too
Héhé, seems I'm searching for something that simply doesn't exist still nothing interesting found... And top of that, the only peoples I located are "gurus" (I mean, stars in design)... Not a very good sign and hard to get in touch with... Also found lot of very strange things, like kits to design your logotypes for cheap, that's just silly! haha Hah!
