Has anyone ever seen this before? My Saturn seems to glitch on this one game (Samurai Spirits IV). It's got a region free bios/modchip installed (APE installed) and is currently ran into an XRGB mini using RGB Scart cables. These glitches weren't present when I was still using composite on my CRT but I hadn't got the console modded or the framemeister yet.

I've got another console I can test it with, but I let a friend borrow it. I burned a copy from another source and still get the same glitches when striking my opponent. I've also swapped out the 4MB cartridge with two others, including a brand new unused one. So I know it's not the RAM cart.

    Anybody have some advice?

Have you tried the 1MB cart? I don't think there's a guarantee all games support 4MB.

Oh wow, that's interesting to know!

And can I just say that that is a very nice looking setup you have there!
Although I couldn't help but notice you mistakenly installed a SNES instead of a Mega Drive! :wink-new:

Mega Doraibu is next on the list my friend. First Japanese model and model-1 Mega-CD. I've been keeping an eye for a nicely boxed set at a decent price to import. But I've already got about 100 Mega Drive games for when the time comes.

Excellent to hear! :congratulatory: I need to pickup one of those myself... eventually!
I've got the karaoke add-on and it just doesn't feel right putting it next to a European Mega Drive.

I see this glitch happen on Real Bout Fatal Fury. Neo Geo must've really want to stick it to Capcom over the 4MB cart.

Yea, I went back and tried every SNK game I have and apparently it glitches with KOF '96, SSIV and Real Bout. I never noticed the glitch until the other day. KOF '97, SSIII, Real Bout Special and Metal Slug had no problems.

I didn't notice the slow down in Metal Slug, but I noticed it in SSIV playing with the 1MB cart when doing combos.

The Metal Slug slowdown is apparently present in the original Neo Geo versions, and it is funny how netizens keep talking as if the slowdown is an aberration. For other games, I'm just mad at SNK in general for not wanting to use the 4MB cart just because Capcom used it.

Yeah, that is why I prefer playing it on NG...

I don't understand where this rumor came from that SNK didn't want to use the 4MB RAM cart. Where do people pull this out of?

And the glitches in 1MB RAM Cart games while using the 4MB cartridge are more than likely due to how the game was programmed. The way they were programmed was fine for the original RAM cartridge but something they did probably wasn't proper causing the expanded 4MB RAM Cartridge to behave differently and cause those glitches. It's not some mystery. Infact if someone wanted to they could probably hack those games to fix them for using the larger RAM cartridge.

I was pretty disappointed that the Sega Saturn never got a KoF 98' port using the 4MB Ram Cartridge. But then again we could also list Marvel Vs Capcom, Metal Slug X, KoF 99', and Garou.

I was gonna say once in a while with Street Fighter 3 my 4MB ram cart will do this. Re-seating the card in the slot usually fixes this. Sometimes its a PITA to get the game to recognize the card is in the Saturn. Probably the slot or card wearing out.

Side question, are you running your saturn with the SCART cable and what converter boxes does it go through to work with your HDTV?

That's an XRGB-mini Framemeister if I've ever seen one! A great investment! :encouragement:

Kirby's Return to Dream Land looks pretty good on on that, I have to admit.

Like RetroJunkie said, it's an XRGB-Mini Framemeister and I use RGB SCART cables to pass 240p to the mini for up-scaling. You might want to pickup another 4MB cart if you have to re-seat it every once in awhile.
