I got a brand new HDMI capture card, and a 1TB harddrive. I ordered the capture card and bought the 1TB in store....So long story short I open my PC fit the HDD into it then noticed that my Graphics Card 8800GTS is taking a HUDGE chunk of space, I was wondering if I could still use the second PCI-E port for my capture card.

Thanks, If I gave you a headache reading that sorry.:crying:

I guess I mean to say will the capturecard be able to fit in my PCI-E 2 slot? or will the 8800 be to big?

Umm, can't you tell with your own eyes? Is the other PCI-e slot visible? Yes? Then it'll be fine.

They're designed to have two cards in - likewise the cards are designed to fit.

What Paulo meant was your question is impossible because you didn't say:

    • What motherboard you have (which tells us what slots you have and where)
    • What exact make and model of graphics card you have
    • What make and model your capture card is

8800GTS is very generic - it isn't the manufacturer's model number. Your question is as vague as saying:

I have a 3 litre car. Will it fit in my garage?

Well, WHAT car? And what size is the garage?

The answer, as I said, is common sense. The best answer I can give you is JUST TRY AND PUT IT IN AND SEE!!

This thread can be closed now, I finally got the card and it has less than 1cm between it and a EVGA (nvidia)8800GTS

I added another fan to make sure the graphics card does no damage to that small card.

I know exactly what he's talking about.
All 8800GTS are a dual slot card, because of the heatsink - unless it comes standard with a Zalman (Think Gigabyte)
Depending on the motherboard there might be another slot you can use, but the one next to the 8800 will be useless unless you swap the heatsink on the card for an aftermarket one, Thermalright make one that is good to use in this situation.

Regardless, I wouldn't be putting a card so close the the 8800, restricts the airflow on the fan and you'll find it will overheat soon enough.

So you went to his house, opened his pc, took alook at the gfx card, got the capture card and took alook to see if they would fit then?

Otherwise your just guessing 50/50 yes or no.

You obviously don't work with and build computers day-in day-out.

If you have opened a PC that was manufactured in the past 3 years you'd know about the stupid placement of PCI and PCI-e 1x slots next to graphics card slots. An 8800 card takes up two slots no matter which card you buy. Some take up two brackets at the back, and some only take up one with a double-sized HSF

Obviously not all boards are like this, merely an example.

I'm not guessing, it's a simple question. The first slot after the 16x PCI-E becomes useless if you have a card that takes up a huge amount of space. The second slot however may still be usable - though I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to fry your graphics card from lack of airflow.
