I also like this edition, although all other consoles of the D-Direct color edition are somewhat more spectacular.

But something more special is on its way to me: a blue S.T.A.R.S. Dreamcast :)

It has become harder to get limited DCs or am I wrong? I suppose there are much fewer for sale than maybe 3 years ago now, probably because most of them are finally in collector's hands by now.

They are definatly becoming harder to find.

Hmm, I can't really get too excited about this one, aesthetically speaking, I'm afriad. It's a Dreamcast painted black, with a sticker on an ordinary box.

As limited edition goes, though, a good start to the collection ;-) And the STARS one is even better!

I look forward to seeing how you progress.

Yes, it has become harder to get limited edition Dreamcasts - especially the super rare models like the Custom DC. But with enough patience and money it's possible to get them all. It just needs some years. :)

@neozeed: Your DC console collection is really the most impressive one of all!
That signed Sega Partners DC is awesome - i was never able to get anything like this although my collection was also nice and i'd some good connections in Japan.
There was a new pearl pink DC sold on Ebay.com some months ago - sold for >1000.- $. There was also one on Yahoo approx. 2 weeks ago - i was outbid at 60.000 Yen. Afterall this was my luck as i wouldn't have been able to buy the STARS DC then.

Ground zero why did you sell a complete set of Le Dreamcasts and now buy them all again probably for a lot more than you originaly paid?

@neozeed - I simply was in need of money. I had enough of my old job at an Intensive Care Unit (11 years are really enough!) and changed my job to Medical Journalism. But i was paid very bad - I thought it was a good chance but even after a period of learning i got a new contract with not really better conditions.
So now i am back in medicine, but with a good job as medical controller. Clean work, no more patients a good loan and only 35 hours of work each week. That's simply great and i can afford to get back to collecting.

Afterall it was a good choice to sell my stuff for a chance to improve my life. Afterall collecting is a hobby - great fun to look for rare consoles, finally get them and own a piece of videogame history - but that's all. It's much more important for me that i got in contact with some really nice persons during collecting!

You can buy official black lids. I did this a few years ago and then spray painted the bottom half. Looked identical to this model minus the windows CE logo.

GZ: so your hobby is actually the collecting process itsself and not necessarily keeping the hardware ?! i know this .. it happened twice to me with my console collection ;) hopefully the LAST time now i started all over haha every start every unit gets more expensive during the years ocoz

The D-Direct DC is no paintjob - the plastic itself is black. From the point of quality it's far superior than e.g. the PGR 100 contest XBox 360.

But i also think that there are far better looking Dreamcasts out there. Anyway - a nice limited edition.

@Vectrex: Trying to get the hardware - hunting - is most of the fun for me. I also enjoy to simply own rare consoles. But then it must be special and really rare models - a Hello Kitty DC means nothing for me.
I won't try to get all LE Dreamcasts again. "Only" the Seaman + Biohazard DCs, D-Direct Color Edition consoles plus Maziora, Custom 78 and Sonic 10th. anniversary edition DC. And this time i will not sell and LE Dreamcast again - they are for collection forever.

You shouldn't buy things if you don't have enough to live on.
I recommend you not buy anything and save your money.

    1. Recession
    2. First hired, first fired.

Just my $0.02 but hey it's your cash.

@Assembler: Thanks for your recommendation. I fully agree with your opinion. But i think you got something wrong or i did a mistake with my English.

I've a wife and a 9-year old daughter and i would never buy things over my budget. My family comes always first! And many things are much more important than videogames for me. My life is no bubble and i've everything under total control.

It's my great luck that recession is not that much of a problem here in Germany, especially not in my job. I've family and am amongst the most succesfull employees. I was never fired and am sure i will never be fired. And as an intensive care specialist give me 2 hours and i've a new job.
