GSL Heavy Industries, Ltd. Presents: The Nintendo DS

Discussion in 'The ASSEMblergames Marketplace' started by Greatsaintlouis, Oct 14, 2004.

  1. Alright, so there have been a few people that have asked me about the possibility of preordering a Nintendo DS for launch. Here's how it stands right now:
I'm not sure, but I think with the local gamestores, preorders are limited to one unit per person. There are three, possibly four places total that I could get a preorder from, and I have currently reserved one unit, with two members of this board expressing interest. So basically, I need to go check out shops and look around, and I'll get back to everyone on how many preorders I can take.

    Pricing:
The Nintendo DS releases here for $150, and should be out around November 23rd. Games are not yet final on the price, but the estimate is between $30 and $40. Release titles for the US are as follows:
    Super Mario 64 DS
    Madden NFL 2005
    Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf
The Urbz: Sims in the City
    Spider-Man 2
    Ping Pals
Feel the Magic: XY/XX (aka I Would Die For You)
    Rayman DS
    Asphalt Urban GT
    Sprung
    Ridge Racer DS

I'm pretty sure that is the final list. Please note that the DS also includes the PictoChat program and a pack-in demo of Metroid Prime: Hunters. To make things easy on me, I'd ask that people limit themselves to one game.

The preorder cost on the system is $25, and games are $5. Both prices are applicable towards the total cost of the system (i.e. $25 now and then only $125 at launch.) I'm going to need the full cost of all ordered items a decent way in advance - if money is going to be a problem, let me know and we could work out that you can do the preorder cost now and the full price later, but this will only apply to people I've traded with before - I'm not taking the risk.

Shipping will be the exact cost to your country of choice, and I will charge a $5 convenience fee per order, but that's it, no other hidden fees or anything.

I will try to check out the details on the preorders tomorrow, and if everything goes well, I should be able to take some preorders for everyone interested! ^__^

YOu know what. I can do the same thing along with GSL. I mean I can preorder Nintendo DS consoles from: Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City, Gamestop, EB, Target, and KB Toys. Thats a total of 6 pre-ordered DSes that i can hold for anyone who wants one. One thing GSL didn't mention is that there's sales tax. I don't know how much it is up where GSL lives but down here its 7% so lets say I pre-order the DS at the full $149.99 price, then you add the 7% tax, the grand total comes out to be $160.50. Plus theres the $5 convenience fee which is flat, by that i mean if you decide to get games as well then all you pay is $5, which is like gasoline money for me to drive to get them, but its only if you get the game and DS at the same time. If you decide to get the DS then I ship but a week later you tell me you want a game for it, then I'd have to charge you another $5 to get it.

So basically, expect to pay at least $165.50 just for the DS then add shipping.

  8. To clairify a few questions: Reserve for the system is $25 at all the local stores, and $5 for games. They won't give you a preorder without the money down, and you won't get one at least here at launch without. Games might be a different matter, however, as one might be able to get them on launch with no preorder, but that the risk you'd take. I'd ideally like the full amount for all orders, as I can't really afford to pick up more than the one I ordered out of my own pocket. And yes, Paypal is cheerfully accepted - in fact, it's the only way I'm willing to go.

And on the issue of sales tax, the great State of Oregon has absolutely none. So when I meant that the cost of a DS is $150 + $5 convenience fee + a game if you're so inclined + shipping to your country, and that's it, I really meant it. No hidden fees here people. And things ship out ASAP if I have the item and you've paid. I'm guessing shipping will be the equivalent of a 2 pound parcel to your country, and I'll post estimates later tonight for the different countries represented here.

Anyways, I'll be in town today and will post tonight on how many preorders I'm allowed at each store. :smt023

GSL. Gamestop and EB only do one per house hold. That means I can't use my moms name making it look she's preordering one because they check the address. At least thats how it is in FL. Anyway, I also asked them if they can gaurentee a console if I pay for the whole thing up front. Well aparently they can't. They gaurenteed orderes the earlier you reserved one.

If any you really want one and GSL is out of places he can go to pre-order I'll scope out my place and try to get one reserved for you, if not you'll get your money back.

Hey anyone- There are like 50 places around my part of L.A .I could pre-order a DS, so if anyone wants one I'll gladly accept, on the same terms as GSL and Madhatter.

  12. Man, we've got the coalition of videogame exporters going here. We should organize a union and all that good stuff... :-D
