GSL Heavy Industries World Headquarters!!! (56k beware!!)

Discussion in 'Member Game Collections' started by Greatsaintlouis, Nov 10, 2004.

  1. Here's a treat for everyone! For the first time in history, GSL Heavy Industries, Ltd. has authorized independent photographers to capture on film pictures of the World Headquarters! (read: I finally got my hands on a decent digicam). Long a source of fan curiousity, these photos should hopefully shed light on what really happens behind those closed doors.

As you can see by the utter disarray, this is a gamer's room and not really a collector's. With the exception of the Jaguar (it's PAL) and the Intellivision 2 (no games/hookups) I use all of these consoles a few times a week. Starting on the floor here on the left, we have my gold US Nintendo 64 unit modded to play Jp games and featuring the HoriPad Mini courtesy of Antipasta. :smt023 Beneath the N64 is an extrenal Playstation developer's CD-ROM drive. To the right is the NES, with the NES Advantage joystick on top and the NES Max controller to the front. Moving right still is the Intellivision 2, sadly unusable because I haven't gotten around to getting games/hookups yet. Moving on to the bottom shelf and working from left to right is the Playstation with its pink outer shell, sitting under a pair of Street Fighter 15th Anniversary controllers. Right of that is the Sega Genesis, and right even more is the Atari Jaguar.

[IMG]Moving up, we have the US model 1 Sega Saturn with Action Replay 4-in-1 sitting on top of the Panasonic M2 Kiosk unit. After that is the SuperGrafx (top) and TurboGrafx (bottom), and then is the beloved Dreamcast.

Pretty straightforward - Gamecube, SNES, and Tv. Pewter Doom figurines (Baron Of Hell & Demon) standing on SNES.

Assorted game cases and boxes on display. A Famiclone hides in the left back, under the Atari 2600 Donkey Kong cart and behind the Dreamcast Pop'n Music controller. A Magnavox Odyssey^2, boxed, lies behind the stack of Genesis and N64 boxes.

Soundwave guards part of the game CDs, and especially the first two Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Edition DVDs in the box set.

The bed where I sometimes sleep. Please note the Advance Guardian Heroes and Tales of Symphonia signs.

Madhatter asked about my computer, and here it is, sadly not much cleaner than the rest of the room. Master Chief on the speaker guards me in my sleep. On my wall next to the bottom of the Love Hina poster is one of my two Famicom Classic game boxes - I have both from Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 on display. The black thing in the upper left corner is a giant Jolly Rodger flag. Yes, that is a blue Zip drive on my computer, and yes, those are two Boba Fett figures sitting on Optimus Prime's shoulders by the printer.

And now for the game collections:

What a mess :smt043 Some nice stuff you got there. I envy you being able to have all of your consoles out on display. Wish I could do that.
By the way, is that the original Soundwave or the nasty remake? I had soundwave once with Laser Beak cassette ;-)

I'll gladly go over there and organize your room. Seperate your PCE CD games from your DC games, etc etc. That place needs a good vacuuming too.

Other than that, I underestimated your collection by the conversations we had. You kick ass :prayer: I can't wait until I move out of the cramped place I'm in. I can then take all my shit out from their boxes and proudly display them.

I should be getting my own Digital camera too soon. Also, could you post pictures of your PC??

Wow, great collection. But I see you still don't have a N64DD ;-)

  5. I was getting too tired to finish it all last night, so here's the entire spread.

    Done and done.

It's the Takara remake of the original - same mold same plastic, everything. I do have the Laserbeak cassette as well - he's sitting by Soundwave's feet, a bit hard to see in that picture.

However, I have a 64DD game, and the GSL Law Of Collecting states that if you have a game but no system, you shall soon find one for cheap. ;-)

Your room is almost like i expected after our many chats :smt043

  8. I know it's a bit messy (due mostly to not enough space, but also because I'm not around for long enough to do serious cleaning) but to be honest I know where everything is. :smt043

    lol

Fire Pro Isn't a button masher.

If you think it's like some of the american POS games where you can just punch the controller for a few minutes and win you are sadly mistaken.

  13. Bit of an ignorant response there. You may have - or may have not - noticed a post I made in OT about a month back asking if anyone knew how to play the damn game, as neither coordinated attempts at wrestling nor button mashing actually had any effect in keeping me from being headlocked and stomped on, etc. If you have any information on how the game works, by all means please share, but I rather resent the insinuation that I'm just a typical dumb American gamer who thinks the only way to play games is bashing on buttons - I would think my collection is an indication that this is far from the case.

Damn messy, but you got some classics hiding out among there. Solid collection there. Nice job. :smt023

I need to pick up Chrono Chross...have no system to play on though...(sold both my PSX and PS2...) :smt009

By the way, do you have the boxes for your Genny/N64/SNES games? :-D

    I'm such a lame-ass that way. :smt042

    Chrono Cross sucks.

You have over 40 CHARACTERS and 38 of them are wastes of space.
If you think its ANYTHING like Chrono Trigger you are dead wrong.
Go ahead and get it for collecting purposes ONLY, but remember--you have been warned.

I've had Chrono Cross since it's Japanese release in 1999, haven't played it for more than an hour or so to this day, what I've played so far has been nothing but a huge disappointment :\

  17. I don't mind Chrono Cross too much - sure, it's not Chrono Trigger, but I think a lot of people went into it thinking that because it had the word Chrono in the title it would be an exact, direct sequel to CT.

4th picture from the top has all my cases. I've got cases for all my Super Famicom games, most of my Japanese N64 games, all of my Gameboy Advance games, and about half of the Genesis games. With cart games, there's often the balance between price and completeness, and as I'm a bit of a budget gamer, being able to easily find Samurai Showdown on Genesis for $14 outweighs trying to get it boxed for who knows how much more. As I am more into the playing of games rather than the flat-out collecting of them, I kindof don't mind which carts have boxes and which don't. That said, if I can get them for cheap complete, I will, but if not, that's fine too, as long as the label is in good condition and the game is functional. CDs/DVDs are another matter - everything needs to be present and in good shape. It's very rarely that I'll buy just a disc with no album art or anything. I am fairly flexible on the Japanese spine cards - they're a nice extra, but if they got lost or torn, it's really alright. Like I said, I collect to play my games. :-D

A bit of an update as well for those interested - my dvd player came today!!

But upon closer inspection... what's this?
That's right, it's a Nuon player!! Now my copy of Tempest 3000 can finally be put to good use! I'm currently using the remote to play it, but there seems to be quite a few of the controllers on eBay, so I'll get one of those next payday.

Also, these babies just arrived yesterday - got the pair shipped for $13. :ramen

Now all you need is a 32x and Virtua Fighter 32x and now you have a game to put those sticks to good use :).

If you actually played it close to the end, you will find out it is closer to CT than you think, but it still sucks. :smt045

Sorry man. I haven't look at this board in months and didn't know about your difficulty with the game.

I've acctually written 3 guides on Fire Pro Wrestling (One for Fire Pro Wrestling Z for the PS2, and 2 for Final Fire Pro Advance for the GBA) and I'd be extremely willing to help you learn to play.

I've tried to show fire pro to several friends and all of them hated it because it wasn't like No Mercy or the Smackdown games.

Though I've shown them Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 and they loved it because the game eventually became Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy.

Fire Pro is a different breed in and of itself because it acctaulyl takes strategy and timing

Again I am deeply sorry if I offended you. I am quite envious of your collection. If I had a 3rd of what you have I'd be content.

I hope you accept my apology and if you are still willing, I can help you learn to play Fire Pro.
