GTA 3 beta was so different.

I mean its like a different game, Plus the idea of school kids being in there is more realistic.
Anyone have any idea if it ever leaked? i know rockstar are good at keeping there beta's locked up.

This caps have been around since a decade and no one, even on gtaforums, have ever seen a prototype build so i guess no.

But i'm sure that there are like three million mods that have the 'beta' style.

 

Hey but mods are not the real thing so they don't really entertain me.

 

If the real thing was just different models, animations and textures ... who minds.

Its like playing the XBOX mod in PC, its not the XBOX version but it looks like the XBOX version.

 

Because its not the original code therefore it cant function as the beta code would .

"Wheels are different" - Placeholders since these look like early screenshots

"Cars are different" - Again placeholders since the cars have no defined textured and look very quickly coloured. Everything just isn't defined in these pictures.

Only main difference was the school, which was most likely taken out due to it being inappropriate like the School Bus in Vigilante 8 2nd Offense. Anything with violence and schools I don't think can be put into games...

Would be interesting to play this build but really it's just the School Bus that's different, everything else is low detailed models to the ones we see.

 

I remember that a user brought a german preview disc with beta particles system in gtaforums

Also onza120, if i am correct there is a beta car handling file which dates back october 1999

And is this car handling file in the game?

 

The car handling was in the retail game i guess, from the PS2 version to be exact.

And the german disk had beta particles and bank sound, the user never shown this version running if i am correct, he just replaced the retail particles files with the beta ones in the PC version, there is even a video.

I presume that it could be from the time that the game was nearly gold, probably in the final polishment stage before the 11/9 happened, and rockstar had to delay the game by 3 weeks and changed the police cars color.
