Anyone got GTA V "On Demand" on Xbox Live? It's only 7.63 GB. I would like to hear how it compares to the disc version.
Figured out. "This game requires approximately 16GB of free storage space. You can download the game to your Xbox 360 Hard Drive or USB 2.0 Flash Drive with a minimum of 15mb/s read speed. After the initial download from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, please launch the game to automatically download the remaining game data. The total download size is 16GB and download times will vary depending on internet connection speeds." http://www.shacknews.com/article/81650/grand-theft-auto-5-joins-xbox-360-games-on-demand
All I can tell you is that the PS3 digital download version is complete cack. The machine can't load data fast enough from only the HD so you end up with missing or low resolution textures and pop-up. The 360 maybe the same unless it has a faster HD.
The solution for the Xbox 360 is to install the asset part to the internal hard drive, and the game part to a (fast) USB-drive. This method gives the best results for both retail disc and downloadable
I've read that too. On 360 if you want to avoid the noise of the disc drive you need to use a fast USB storage device with your HDD. I'm not sure the PS3 has that option.
I use just the disc but I'm fortunate enough to have a 360 with a quieter DVD drive. Even using the disc and HDD combo there are still some odd glitches when playing the online mode. During the intro the entire world can be missing with people and cars floating in mid air
This happens during the intro and online intro due to the camera shifting large distances, and the game hasn't had time to load the actual non-LOD model chunk of the city yet. Rockstar should have implemented something to load the next chunk of map in the background, but seeing as this is only a problem for two occasions (and depending on how worn your laser is), I guess it was low priority. My Xbox only has problems with this game, and it can barely keep up with the loading when driving at moderate-fast speeds, really looking to get a cheap USB drive with fast enough read speeds just for this.
Ah, so a warn drive could also causes issues? I changed my drive a year back as my original drive wouldn't open.
Of course it could. The laser is the key in reading the data off the disc, and if it is weaker it will have a harder time reading the data, hence the longer load times. I saw the game running off my friends barely used Slim 360, and it looked beautiful and with the smallest amount of assets popping up at the highest speeds, otherwise it worked fine. My Fat 360's disc drive died about a year ago and my friend let me borrow one of his. Every game had a bit longer loading time, but it worked fine until GTA V. For some reason it kept crashing saying it couldn't read the data off my 360's hdd (which is the 13.7GB POS one), so I went and performed a pot tweak on my dead Xbox and it worked, but the loading on it is shit (which is to be expected), but for some reason my hard drive actually worked on my Xbox. Go figure. & Yeah, every 360 I have had had a stuck disc drive. 360 quality is garbage on the hardware side.
From personal experience I recommend to use the following USB-stick: 'Transcend 32GB Jetflash 760 USB 3.0'. It only costs €21,- and works like a charm with GTAV!
