Yup, today is the 10th Anniversary of the release date of Sega Saturn in Japan! America was May 95, can't remember Europe! Anyway, Happy Birthday Saturn!! :drinkers: :boobies2 May you live many more years!
Yes indeed, I also read it on another forum yesterday! I never realised it was already that long of a time ago the Saturn was released. I remember it was the bomb those days (for me at least :-D ), it makes me also a bit sad it's already such an old machine.... ah well, maybe that's a good thing... Happy birthday indeed, on to the next decenium! :smt023
This is the kinda stuff that makes me feel old :smt009 And I'm only 19! I still remember when these things were over £300!
It may be an old machine but it sure has a load of great games!! Some of it's 2D stuff still looks stunning !! Yakumo
I shall celebrate by playing... with my phone... as my entire collection is in my new house while im in the old house on my own... I don't even have my PC, just my laptop and a dial-up account (broadband died for some reason) :smt022 And the Mrs is on a business trip... :smt022
What has the Mrs. being away got to do with you having nothing to play with? :smt083 Anyway, it is also the birthday of python Terry Gilliam, tennis stars Boris Becker and Billie Jean King, actress Jamie Lee Curtis, composer Benjamin Britten, travel agent Thomas Cook (the person, not the shop!) and Charles de Gaulle. Deaths on this date include Aldous Huxley, C.S. Lewis, and of course John F. Kennedy Notable events on this day in history include: The Beatles release With The Beatles (1963) and "The 'White Album'" (1968), the assassination of President Kennedy (1963), Margaret Thatcher resigned as Prime Minister (1990), and it is Lebanese Independance Day. Ooh, most importantly, the 1989 conjunction of Venus, Mars, Uranus, Neptune, the Moon, and... SATURN!! hehe BTW Yakumo, this was the earliest pic I could find, but what was it you were saying about the very first Saturn having more LEDs?
Happy birthday Saturn! Thank you for showing us the beauty of 2d! And to you, Mr. Gilliam, as well, thank you for your brilliant Python days and for bringing us the movie adaptation of Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas. And hats off for a moment to JFK. :smt009
I second that. The perfect celebration would of course be watching a F & L VCD on a Saturn with the VCD card :-D
Yeah, happy birthday Sega Saturn! One of the best machines ever! Ideal days to play Nights, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Sega Rally and the great amount of titles. Or watch some Segata Sanshiro ads
