Wow.. This news really has pissed me off. http://wii.ign.com/articles/835/835748p1.html In alot of cases a game featuring only sound in mono wouldn't really piss me off too much. However, the fact that Guitar hero is a music game really makes this unfortunate. While they have suggested a downloadable fix for this, it doesn't seem as if its going to happen in the near future. Anyways, I've gone ahead and emailed both activision and Red Octane to voice my complaints. If your upset like me. You should do the same.
WTF? are they serious? A music game with mono sound?? Issue? LOL its just plain retarded, how can someone make a music game and let something like this slip by?
Honestly I cant undestand how they made GH mono... Dunno, it just sounds too stupid to find a logical answer.
And if in good condition & played on decent equipment, often sounds better than compressed digital recordings! *runs & hides before the audiophile flamefest starts* :110: Does seem a bit odd to have a music game in mono. On the other hand, they probably figured that most users would be too busy playing guitar gods to pay too close attention to the stero soundstage.
I just thought of another thing...when he brought his GH3 over I couldn't hear the game over the sound of the guitar clicking.
Anyone who disses vinyl doesn't deserve to complain about audio quality because they've already demonstrated a severe lack of knowledge...or in video games terms has just slapped a big 'ol N00B! across their face. -hl718
That's just plain stupid that the game is in mono. Man, I get annoyed if a mobile phone game is in mono (I'm looking at you, Konami!) never mind a home console games. Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party on the Wii is in Dolby Surround ! Yakumo
Let's put it another way, most people are not going to tell the difference between the game being in mono or stereo anyway, and unless someone points it out I don't think 99% of the gaming population cared. Personally I hate Guitar Hero, rehashing an old concept and everyone thinks its revolutionary. [/rant]
Yeah, Activision needs to fix this. Either send a Wii online or downloadble (from PC) update OR replace discs to those who ask for free.
nintendo has offered replacement disks for mario party 8 AND Super Paper Mario. There's a cost involved in replacing all your stock but at least you save face. Activision should follow suit in my view.
Yep and they did it for Twilight Princess as well! Link And of course microsoft for the Halo 3 Legendary Pack The fact of the matter is, is that this is a music game so sound quality is imperative. Secondly, remeber that this is not a regular game that players are buying but, its guitar hero. This means the additional cost of the guitar controller. You can't ask player to shell out that kind of dough for this type of package unless you offer a quality product. If nintendo can replace games that aren't in the same price range as guitar hero, it seems only fair for activision to do the same for its product. It is after all in a higher price range.
or at least the perceived average wii user. This is Exhibit A of a big company knowingly cheating consumers out of standard features because the game is on the wii. I didn't even know they still made games in mono. They wouldn't get away with doing, much less trying this, on the ps3 or 360, but will probably skate by with no problem on the wii. You can only get away with what people accept.
Is the same thing that happened with the GBC and GBA. In that case was simply becos those were the only portables at the time.
