I have been looking at trying to get several games working in 720p, with Hex editing and at first going the easy route of using OgxHD. So far "Black" runs perfect and "True crimes: streets of LA" does as well on at least 128MB. (see image for patch settings OgxHD) Gunvalkerie has some minor menu glitches, but in game the looks are amazing, you would honestly think it is a 360 game. However there is a slight issue, the game seems to slow down some times with gun particle sprites and moving at the same it. When you do not shoot it is 100% smooth, when you do shoot it will will fluctuate between 100% smooth and slowing down about 30%. This is clearly a GPU performance issue. Now I rather have the framerate drop than the game slowing down, but this is probably not likely to be changed. However I was thinking of editing the game files and either making the gun trail sprites really small. But sadly this is a Xbox exclusive and so there is no editor I could find. Perhaps someone else can shed some light on this with other sega games using the same structure? The data folder contains file extensions such as .mdb, .txb, .lbi, .olo, .lgt. The .mdb files seem to be sprites(names like parteffects2.mdb), the header always starts with MDLB Do these file extensions related to sega games ring a bell to anyone ?
Tried outrun, but it seems to crash while loading the video file. The menu is basically a video that runs in the background. If you have a 128MB Xbox you could run Chihiro version of Outrun 2. It will not be 720p but 480p. However I think the quality of the Chihiro version is much higher than the Xbox version.
