I always wanted one as a kid, though I read issues of speakers going out after awhile or the case warping. Any chance eventually you will post footage of it on your youtube channel?
Samsung made a line of gaming tvs with built in speakers and multiple av inputs. The speakers folder to cover the screen. They were very expensive at the time, and sold poorly. Quite rare really.
No wonder you forgot about them, it was ugly... The speakers did fold in and it had 3 Composite video inputs and RF...
Oh that ugly heap of crap. Yeah, I remember them. Jamtex, is that all they have? Composite? Not much of a gaming TV without RGB I'd say.
My best friend in 9th grade had one that he had gotten brand new at the time. Also the card/D&D/gaming shop down the street from my house had one with a playstation hooked up (then a PS2 later on) they'd charge something like 5$ for an hour =P. I never had any notion that they were rare, saw one recently for sale locally and didn't even look at the price.
If it's an USA (and Japan) product, simply there's no point in RGB... I also like (wish) to go against the market decisions of industry consortiums, but that's very, very hard for small consumer groups... So it's like a non-european gaming TV... =P
I used to have one. It sounded pretty good. It was kind of cool for a TV to focus on sound, since most TV's of the time (and even now) have really terrible sound even if the picture is great. I guess it did look kind of ugly, but that wasn't really the point was it? I think it might have had S-Video input as well, not sure though.
I have a few old magazines and comics with mail order ads for these things in the UK. I always wanted one but they were ludicrously expensive. I'd offer to upload an ad but those books are on the otherside of the planet. Maybe next year. EDIT: Wooo member Elite.
That's because it's a teleVISION. If you want better sound, you can always upgrade your speakers. If you want a better picture, well you go get a new fucking TV.
No, a TV isn't just about picture but also sound. I'm another who hates when TV companies don't bother with the audio set up. Back in the UK I had a kick arse Toshiba Dolby Surround Sound TV. We're talking about 14 years ago now but this thing had amazing audio on it. The TV I have now, a Victor CRT HD set up also has very good sound. In fact the audio is that good I don't even bother with the stereo anymore. The bass on it is also fantastic. I'm just worried about when I finally get a LCD screen. Those things are so thin so will they have decent speakers in them? Yakumo
It's not JUST about picture but it is the main aspect because you can easily add more sound to your set up if it's not adequate. if you don't have a decent enough picture, you can't do anything besides get a new TV. As for LCDs, no. Surround Sound sets have been increasing in sales since the LCD/Plasma/LED took over the CRT in TV sales. And for those not quite up to spending another 300 dollars on, the sound bars are sold.
Lol, there is one of those sitting at my local thrift shop for about $15. I thought it looked silly. Didn't think it was anything special so I left it there to continue playing Toy Story.
Ha, I own this TV as well, and yes, the speakers will go off and on if you keep opening and closing the Speaker/Door flaps. But with the 3 AV Inputs, back in the day this was too perfect for a gaming TV in your room.
