This isn't a transaction I performed here but on RacketBoy where my post count is <100 and his is >500 but I figure a warning here is a good idea.

I bought a model 2 Sega Saturn from h8b1llg8ts about two weeks ago and didn't fully test it into a week in (apparently being a busy man isn't a good enough reason for testing everything the second you get it?). Found the laser wouldn't read anything at all and the composite cables wouldn't work reliably. From there I opened it up to find corroded shielding but the mobo is intact. From there I installed a region free BIOS and swapped everything into another Saturn where I had a fully functional laser. So no big loss but extremely annoying.

Now I messaged him about the laser hoping for a $10 refund to cover it and he didn't message me back for two days until I told him point blank what I wanted and that he had logged in since the last message. He wants me to send the Saturn back and I initially agreed but it seems clear the finger is angled in my direction and the fact he wants his Saturn back 100%. Problem is I had forgotten that I'd already installed a region free BIOS into it and I'm not in the business of giving away my work and he is well within his right to expect his Saturn back in the condition he sent it in. I'm also not in the business of swapping motherboards around just to fit my agenda and want to send back his console in the condition he wants it in.

At this point I'm going to keep it as I've got everything to lose by sending it back. I'm sure he didn't know about the corrosion but how he didn't know about the laser is beyond me unless it died in transit. Take what you want from this, I'm offering it up merely as transparency.
