Hacking controller ports on atgames Sega Genesis Arcade Motion Dual

OK, so I have one of these.. shaped like Sonic's head, firecore heaps with the SD card reader. Since they all use the same CPU and general specs, I'm wondering if anyone has successfully soldered on some controller ports for use with the official Sega controllers? I'm guessing this company is using the same cheap circuit board with minor alterations, cost cutting measures on the various units.

It kinda sucks cause one has the controllers and no SD card, etc. I know people generally bash these knockoff units, but I'm trying to make some casual genesis gaming a little better (er compact) without dragging out my model 1 and stacking it on top of my already dangerously massive tower of doom that sits next to my entertainment center.
