HALF-LIFE 2 PRELOAD AVAILABLE..via steam of course..

I think I can download it because I bought an ATI card with the Free Half Life 2 coupon (I own a 9600 Pro All in Wonder).

Well, they are probably letting people with the ATI HL2 Coupon, to preload files that won't change (textures,sounds,....) and stuff like that.

 

It's just textures and levels packed up. Even if you get it there won't be anything to play for some time.

The reason they're doing this now is to lower the initial load on Steam's servers for when the full game is released.

Shoulda told her that Steam is a big bad monster that likes to poke people in the butt if they try to play a certain computer game. That's what I would have done - kids are fun! :-D

I don't know much about PC gaming and PC online gaming, so my question is, what is Steam? I know what GSL thinks about them :-D , but what are they really.

 

STEAM is basically a online gaming interface designed by Valve software. Its used for playing Valve games online and for purchasing software directly from Valve.

I don't understand why people hate it though, I'm a massive HL fanboy and think STEAM rocks ^_^

 

Steam is the online server system that valve uses.
If you want to play counterstrike or any half live mod you need to do it via the steam network.

And to put it bluntly , steam sucks ass , it's slow buggy and utter crap :angry

Thanks for clearing this up. I remember that avatar, I did not know what it meant when I first saw it, now that I know, it seems less offensive. BTW, SilverBolt what ever happened to your old avatar (the one with Tails), I liked it the best.

 

umm there isnt much to play on it tho. Apart from hl... and even thats not that great to still be playing it!

Yeah, my problem with Steam is that it is slow and super-buggy, but your mileage will vary - some people don't have a problem with it.

Come on, how else is he going to live forever? Think about it - there are how many hundred Castlevania games out there, and why is there no end to the series? Because Dracula never dies. Why does Dracula never die? Because he drinks blood! It's simple!

Plus, think the positive spin: when you're a parent, you will save TONS of money on Christmas presents if your kids are too terrified of the season to look forward to getting gifts from Santa Claws - err, CLAUS. :-D
