SMOOTH FRAMES ALL AROUND!! Much better than DOOM 3

And it has the same "non fitting eyes" problem that Halo 2 exhibits. :smt045

Does it run nice on your system? 'Cause I was doubting it would run on mine, but my specs are better than that.

 

I was about to say...it sort of reminds me of Shenmue ( a series which I love by the way!) on the DC. Don't get me wrong, I'm not really a graphics whore, but after all the hype I was expecting a bit better.
Makes no difference to me anyway as I'm a Mac guy!

 

Yeah, to be honest, from these and other shots I've seen, Doom 3 looks better.

512 MB Ram
128 MB Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4600

Unforunately, I've got one of those crap Dell Proprietary Mobos. I guess my specs are pretty similar to Madhatter's. I still need a DVD drive.

That Graphics card was pretty much top of the heap when I bought it. 2 years, huh... :smt042

 

Looks good, but not that great, guess you need to see it first hand to appreciate it.

 

I must say....your textures do look a fair bit off. Lemme grab some screens from it running on my PC and compare :smt023

i would love to see HL2 running at his full ''capacity''.

 

It might have to do with the graphics card he is using, will just have to wait and see it runnning on a comp at full capacity,

Dude. Doom3 looks EXACTLY the same on my PC but runs a bit slower during fights. The reason the textures look like "shit" is because the engine is using Pixel Shader 1.1 which is what my video card is capable of. Play Doom3 and HL2 on a 6800GT or even a 9800Pro and you'll see a huge difference in texture quality. The HL2 engine uses the PS1.1 so as not to cramp down my video card. Still, running it at 1280x1024 and smooth FPS during battles suprises me because I have to run Doom 3 at 1024x768 at low settings just to have smooth FPS during battles with more than 2 monsters at once lol.

I'm a guy thats all about gameplay, I thought GSL was about that too but according to his sig, he aint :smt043 .

Anyway, This thread wasnt to prove that Doom3 sux and HL2 is better. It was to show off how great it looks ON MY COMPUTER. NOT YOURs.

GSL, you're missing out on two great games, Doom3 and HL2.

 

I'm all about the gameplay, I rock the gameplay
and the ladies go, "You know HE's up on the gameplay."

But I'm a hater for the hype, yo.

And I just thought it was really, really funny that Half-Life 2, with
the supposedly awesome engine and blah blah blah looks far worse
than Doom 3, even running on MY PC, which as you're fond of
reminding me, is so archaic it should, by all means, choke
when using Notepad.

I know it wasn't a Doom 3 vs. Half-Life 2 thread, all I'm saying
is for something delayed numerous times, it looks pretty subpar.

And for gameplay, give me Deus Ex over Half-Life any day.
