People would have to start playing arcade games again, and that ain't going to happen. Yeah, just like Silent Hill Arcade, Akumajo Dracala Arcade, etc. etc.... basically, it won't.
I'm just saying because its supposed to feature VR head tracking, among other things. But at this pace we might see it in Natal first...
I can't think of any feature that will get people back into the arcades other than a healthy community, or something that really can't be done at home... light gun games (for the most part) can. We'll see... I'd love to be proven wrong, but I've pretty much kissed the arcades goodbye.
Nah there's no chance of arcades being anywhere near "hip" again, and now with 3DTVs even cinemas will go broke. But what I meant is that if the MGS arcade has some degree of sucess it may convince other companies of using arcades as proving grounds again. After all its way cheaper to test new tech in arcades than in a complete console lineup.
3DTV= bollocks all the way, unless it is like the wii homebrew stuff. Where a pair of glasses really gives you some kind of 3D, cause my eyes can not see the so-called "3D" shit like the Avatar movie and other films who has gotten that treatment. So give me a fucking break about the whole "3D" shit. Cause the only way I would be seeing 3D would be either with holographic display or with the glasses from the old Wii homebrew youtube video I saw long ago.
I'm guessing it's that stuff where the camera was panning around based on the guy's orientation to the screen? If so, God you seriously don't need glasses for that crap. That seriously was like a fucking joke of a way to do it. A better and proper way is with a camera that will keep track of your head and orientation. Sony has already shown tech demo of the PS3 Eye software that can keep track of multiple faces, their mood, eyes and etc. Fuck actually next week this little gem is coming out for the DSi in japan. Actually the concept works even better for portable since it's a viewport meant for a single user. (Dsi does not have any accelerometers or gyros) http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/dsiware/krgj/index.html
Yeah I was gonna mention that little point: DK, eye tracking only works for one person, so unless you live alone in a basement and hate other people I'll say stick with 3DTVs, cause the other option means you'll be having all the fun while everybody else around you wonders why the fuck you're moving all the time in front of the screen (like the guy from the homebrew) Saw the DSi video, and honestly I wasnt sure if they could pull that one with such a limited hardware. Guess that if the DS2 gets a nice OMAP or Snapdragon (or any custom Cortex) that kind of 3D will be commonplace, if not expected, in most games.
Does it have a DM mode? Because HL2 deathmatch is terrible. Counterstrike Source would be a better arcade game (if they exclude AWP as a weapon).
Yes, HL2 Survivor has a DM mode. http://www.gamespot.com/arcade/acti...&om_clk=newsfeatures&tag=newsfeatures;title;2 WHAT?!? HL2 deathmatch was awesome! What did you not like about it? AWPs weren't that bad. There is a Counterstrike: Neo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counter-Strike_Neo http://www.csneo.com/
Not necessarily. They would have to make something back (not a profit) but just throwing out several thousand heavy/expensive units in the name of R&D isn't such a great plan.
The weapons are just not well balanced for the wide open areas that most maps seemed to contain. Also, the maps sucked.
