I'm welcoming you all to try and predict the future of Halo 3. Which one of these scenarios do you think will happen on day 1? Day 1: a) Cheating and hacks make game unfun b) Live cannot cope, crashes/slow/down c) Massive ROD d) Massive Bricking e) Unfixable exploits f) all of the above  Bet 1: Days until the first cheat / hack. Place your bets Bet 2: Day(s) until the first patch. Place your bets
Heres my guess: -First few days will be bricked systems/Ring of Death and connection problems for both multiplayer and co-op -The glitches/exploits will start rolling in about a week later, with Microsoft threating to ban people using these exploits. -People will start ripping the game apart and figuring out every little thing that was cut and/or leftover. -Hacked maps will be next. I didn't see any with Halo 2 until about 2 years after its launch, so I have hopes that Halo 3 will be about the same.
Heres my guess. 1) I play single player and beat it. 2) I play Live with actual friends and ignore the idiots. 3) ????? 4) I rip off internet jokes. 5) Profit!
I thought they eventually patched Halo 2 up? I stopped playing it online a way long time ago because everyones either too good or a dick.
It'll be a really fun game, and probably the only FPS I play on console. I think they put a lot of work and stuff in this, and I think I'll love it. Your mileage may vary.
I can see... It becoming the best selling game in the US, Canuckland and the UK and will even become the 2nd best selling game on the Xbox 360 in Japan. Lots of people complaining that their XBox 360 keeps crashing / getting 3 lights of death. Xbox Live falling over for anything not Halo 3 related. Xbox Live falling over later and kiddies and idiots, writing 'Microsoft are fools, I will sue' (or words to that effect...) People saying 'The 360 is doooooomed' as machines die / live falls over. PS3 increasing sales the day after Halo 3 is released.
I dunno, I don't remember a lot of 360's dying from Gears of War, even mine didn't, so I don't see how Halo 3 could make them or Live die more.
I think 'all of the above', except for the unfixable exploits, because MS can just issue a required update to fix it, or just ban people that are caught using them, like the unauthorized COD4 beta testers. Bet 1: less than a day Bet 2: a week, tops.
That reminds me of something from Futurama: Fry: Nobody used to drive in New York. There was too much traffic.
I think like alot of games it will have a day 1 patch because more and more developers are rushing out games and figuring they can fix anything they find. The play testers offen find bugs even after the game has gone gold and started printing.
I don't know. Given how big Halo 3 is for Microsoft (especially given that Halo is pretty much the biggest game franchise in the west) I imagine Bungie busted and Microsoft busted their asses making sure there will be no massive problems with Halo 3 out the gate. In so far as ROD/Bricking, I doubt it will be too bad. No worse than Gears of War or Bioshock brought on.
