Super! I've never seen the "Teen" rated cover before. I love the ODST box, too. Better than the Halo 3 one....
I like the ODST consoles more, too. I'm hoping to get the Best Buy version in a couple of days. Microsoft jumped the gun and sent out teen rated display cases before it was actually rated. They were supposed to all be sent back. If you have a Halo 1 poster, you may notice that the ESRB on it is actually a sticker. They did the same to the posters, only they just slapped an "M" sticker over it instead of recalling it. I just finished off my US case variant collection today. Got a sealed H1 "Not For Resale" black label, non Game of the Year. Took me forever to find this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110464496664&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT You can view a lot of my other Halo stuf HERE if interested. Don't bother with the sets on the right, though, I never got around to filling them.
Very cool, I always liked Halo 1. Halo 2 was damn annoying with that cliffhanger ending, not too mention the pathetic trial to include emotional elements in an story whose main character is the Master Chief. Great collection though. I wonder what "Black Label" means, just b/c it's the first in the series?
Black Label means it's the original release where at the top of the box art it has the black xbox logo. Where as the platinum hits ones are grey.
Ah, all right. Another mystery solved. I am always referring to "black labels" as simple first prints, never quite checked why regular games are called black labels as if they were something special (like other "Black Label" versions in the arcade world).
What? No Novels or Artbooks?? There can't be a Halo Collection without those. The 6 novels are the meat of Halo's story. Not so pathetic when you know the whole story from reading the novels. To the average person , yes. But they are missing out. Master Chief was kidnapped as a child , flash Cloned and taken away to be trained for his whole life to become part of the UNSC's ultimate soldiers. Their original intention wasn't to fight the covenant but to help subdue rebels and pirates. They first came into contact with the Covenant around the Time John-117 was I think 13-15 years old(correct me if i'm wrong) The story as a whole is actually quite endearing and tragic sometimes despite master chief's relative shyness as a character.
Now that you mention it, I remember this story. Must have read a summary on wikipedia some time ago as I didn't read the novels. Anyway, the Master Chief is created as a video game character and if he was really intended to have had such a deep and touching life experience, why don't we get to see anything of it in the games? Halo is a very cool game. But I strongly refuse to regard MASTER CHIEF as an interesting and emotional type of character :110:
I don't have every novel out, but I do have a few of them and the art books. I focus more on hard to find stuff.
Because, they can't show it in games because of the fact that the average halo-Fan doesn't know anything about the real halo story (and that numbers in the vast millions) They've said they have to keep it seperate because it would confuse said fans. To those fans master chief is just some faceless bad ass bastard or something. It's not much of the character rather than the story of the universe and the Spartan-II's and III's in general that is emote. It's everything as a whole. But hey it's cool, I respect your opinion. Most people already have Pre-Fabricated opinions in their brains formed before they can even really give something a chance and even actually doing it usually won't change said opinion. And this is the general disregard Halo gets, which is sad because it actually really is good. If you read the novels and play singleplayer only. However, Multiplayer is absolute broken garbage IMO. See I hate part of Halo too lol.
Halo has become a game focused on online play. Once the online play gets axed in time, and the only part left is the story. Halo 2 / 3 etc are weak games as far as story.

Again, Tied in with all the novels. Not so much so. *shrugs* They reveal so little of the back story in the games. Playing and reading the novels and games in sequence is a much different experience. IMHO. I'm not going to try to change anyone's opinion. And it's not like i'm some Halo Kid , nor think it's the best game evar like casual gamers do. I grew up in a different generation like most people here unlike the average halo fan. And that puts me in a deep hole by myself. Oh well more for me. EH.
