BAD NEWS people, specially for Halo fans Fox and Universal have secured the rights to the Halo movie, after M$ droped any demands to have control over the script and the movie. In other words, expect a complete piece-o-crap since they are hiring the guy from "28 days later..." to completely ReWrite the original script, and the director has yet to be choosen. What gets M$ for selling their souls? just 5MUSD and 10% of the gross profit. What a downer, since they signed an agreement releasing any powers over the halo movie, thus being completely incapable to do any claims on the production. And, as if it couldnt be worst, Halo3 may be delayed to 2007 so it would be released at the same time that the movie to optimize marketing potential.
Wow that isn't good. Although imho, I bet the movie won't be too good either way. But delaying Halo3 just to make a few extra bucks on a movie... eh, I don't know maybe it'll be good for them (moneywise), but it sure sucks to wait so much longer for games like that. Although it could backfire and hurt console sales in the begining too.
well since Alex Garland is actually a good author and can actually right scripts i have some hope. Although without Bungie intervention..... this can only be a bad thing (Since fox/universal will attempt to make it as action packed and meaningless as movies such as XXX)
I think Bungie will see that it's done right... I have no worries about the movie being bad... unless they get someone to play the part of cortana insted of doing her in CG with Jen Taylor's voice. Also, id hate it if they had the cheif remove the suit and that... I think they should still use Steve Downes's voice and have a stunt guy in a suit the whole time. But i don't think MS will really delay the game, unless it needs to be delayed. Holiday 06 sounds good to be for the game, and 07 for the movie.
They cant, since with the agreement the other parts (bungie, M$) cant interfere with the movie production in any way. They can be call for help, but thats it. The final decision is in hand of the producers (fox/uni) Na, they ARE goin to delay it. The halo2 ad campaing was HUGE, but in case of a movie been released they dont need publicity at all, since the movie would do the work for them
Im sure the Xbox will survive. How can a system die if they have TONS of money? BTW, Im sure there are a lot of people that will wait FOREVER for the next Halo, just like Halo 2. If Bungie keeps making more downloadable maps for MS, that might make the wait not seem so bad, and online play on Halo 2 means you wont get bored since something is going on ALL THE TIME. Im starting to play TS3 some more at the moment. I hope the X360 will have a TS4. I dont care about story on that game, if it was strictly multiplayer and mapmaker, I would like it more, since I could have more room for stuff. Sorry about goin' O-T.
Im not sayin is goin to die like DC did (which was for lack of money) but not getting Halo3 for the PS3 launch or at least xmas06 is goin to be a huge blow to the sales, specially if the PS3 gets another GTA
There are other Xbox games besides Halo, you know. If EA and Free Radical got another TS to come out with better online support, it could easily be the next "Halo". Timesplitters already has the best mapmaker out there, but it still leaves something to be desired. Pariah has an AWESOME mapmaker, but it has little online support, and wasnt exactly meant to be a multiplayer game like TS was. The first TS was originally mutliplayer only, but they wanted to be safe and put in a story. Though good, the story is now over, but if they really did make TS4 to be multiplayer only and have better online support and a few other improvements and whatnot, it would be AWESOME!!!
No doubt theres other games out there, but Halo is for the Xbox as Sonic was for the Genesis: is the console seller, the game that drives people crazy for a console. There are a huge number of games better than halo, but is the hype around that single game what makes it a hit
