Check it out: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topi...-2600-released-at-cge-download-the-game-here/ Couldn't find a thread here for it, feel free to delete/merge if there already is one.
To be Honest you could make any old block shit for the 2600 and call it what ever you want. I'll port JetSet Radio.
Go on then.... whip out that 6502 assembler, write something in 4k of code with a whole 128 bytes of RAM, 2 sprites, 1 half sprite and no video memory... It's not very original but it's a lot better then 90% of the commercial games that were released on the 2600...
I can't program but that doesn't mean I can't comment Honestly, you could write a different title screen and change the main sprite and call it Bayonetta 2600. Nobody would know the difference. What I'm trying to say is this game has no connection to Halo apart from the name. Comments like, ""Oh, I can't wait to play as Master Cheif" just puzzle me.
Well it could be possible too use a 32bit CPU to do 3D and write the screen data to the 2600 but that's unlikely. You can comment, but your comment was a little poor. The game itself is quite impressive considering it's 4k, obviously you aren't going full 3D but it does seem like a reasonable 2D version of Halo on a limited console. Going back to you arguement, it could be said that a lot of games nowdays could just have the graphics changed and no one would notice the difference, get Halo change backrounds and characters and bobs your uncle you have Call of Duty... Obviously a 2D atari 2600 version of Jet Set radio would be a challenge but you could put the basics of the game into it and it'll feel like an Atari 2600 version of JSR...
I don't think most people realise just how limited the 2600 is, I certainly didn't until I read a book on it. The things that people have got that hardware to do defy belief. ...all that said, most games for it (impressive or not) are unplayable to me.
Would be pretty cool to buy it with full retail packaging then convince my 11 year old son I was playing halo when I was a kid lol.
Does anybody know what the controls are for the online emulator version? The arrow buttons move the character, but I can't find any button to shoot or do anything else.
Man, they're really beating a dead horse with this release. When will M$ and Bungie learn? We don't need more Halo games!
