I just wished they hadn't knocked down 'The Hacienda'. Manchesters cultural importance cannot be over stated. It's been the hot bed of some of the UKs best and most innovative bands for decades. I do NOT include 'Oasis' in that however.

Only ever passed through Hamburg so no idea what it's like.

Apparently there is decent music scene in Hamburg. This is a bit out of date, but a good starting point lol.

Aye the Hacienda was more then just a club, from it the Bench brand of clothes was spawned. As great as Manc is its losing some of its shine - the saga with Afflecks palace and the loss of the smaller night clubs to offices has started to turn it into a generic city. If its not stopped soon the rot will set in. Then toss in stupid congestion charge thats planned and its all going tits up.
The bomb 10 years ago kick started the regeneration of the city but at a loss of the independent businesses - this is where the rot started which led to situation we have now.

I don't know any shop in Hamburg, but I'm sure there is the one or another. Don't be too keen on it though, German cities have a serious lack of game shops.
If you're interested in or at least like model trains, you could also visit the worlds biggest model railway exhibition nearby. They have I don't know how much m² of plain model goodness, including mini versions of Arizona, Las Vegas, Switzerland, Hamburg and a giant harbour.
Well just a side-note because I like this stuff ^^

it's disproportionate I d say. For example lawyers make something about 2K Euros IF they re lucky. Trainee lawyers (Excluding myself) make something about 300-600 Euros a month for example.

A cup of coffee is anywhere between 3 and 5 euros though, and there's ridiculous taxes and laws that just bleed you dry. I make 1K a month for example, but I still live with my parents because renting a place would be impossible+living like a human+ keeping money on the side:S
