Hamy portable NES

Was looking for a snes clone on my favourite shopping site, aliexpress, and found this.
Pretty cool huh? I'd buy one if I was into nes, maybe someone else fancies it?

By now it may seem as if I'm just spamming aliexprees, I'm not.
They just so happen to have a lot of cool stuff, really cheap. And I'm really cool and cheap too

There is an arcade emulator on ali, it looks like a ps2 slim and uses standard ps2 joysticks.

 

Sure they are, I just really like the design of this one and how it plays original carts.

 

I do like the Famicom look of it. It'd be cool to have one that looked like that for Famicom games, and a similar one with a NES color scheme for NES games. Just cause =P

 

Excellent choice for a sample cartridge, you gotta give them that. Playing Duck Hunt on that is gonna be soo much fun, I'm sure!

 

I picked up one a few months back, the screens pretty decent, it works with an everdrive, can play castlevania 3 and the a/v out quality is very good. Downside is the d-pad is pretty awful and its got the usual NOAC sound issues, so although it can play castlevania 3, it sounds like total garbage!

 

That's too bad about the D-pad and good news about the display. I actually would've thought the display was shite.

Hehe, and a strange obsession with obscure clone hardware, but then I guess that is fairly common on this forum

I also picked up the portable genesis/mega drive they do, this I was far less impressed with. It uses a proper GOAC rather than the emulation of the atgames units so can handle everdrives etc.. but doesn't handle master system games, has a pretty rubbish screen, poor av out, shoddy build quality and wonky sound. shame really as there isn't anything else on the market like it and I expected more from Hamy as they do make a lot of the Yobo and Hyperkin products.

The NES feels like a product made for export and with a few tweaks could easily be something marketed in the west by hyperkin, etc...

The Mega Drive on the other hand just feels like a cheap knock off, loaded with pirated games and a box with the usual array of video game characters plastered all over it!

Its the same old story I guess with most clone hardware, promises so much and usually ends up failing in reality

 

About genesis/smd clones, I'm looking for a manufacturer who still makes full chipset clones (as opposed to socs and hybrids). Is there such a manufacturer maybe?

I didn't know that Hamy made hyperkin's products, I thought they were pirating them. Thanks for enlightening me.

 

well that explains why the Retron 3 and 5 were crap,also i would try to look for a Scorpion XVI if your looking for a proper MegaDrive clone

I thought so much. Oh well.
I do have this one, and while it's not a complete clone it's still pretty bad ass.
Too bad it needs modding for stereo and rgb out
