Well to our american friends, it's that time of year to put a candle on the old Sega Saturn and bring a tear to the old eye as you remember how awful the pad was. Next birthday isn't for another month when the N64 turns 13.

I got a late-gen version with the JP/Euro pad, so I was spared the horror.

Along with the PC Engine, probably the most underrated console ever, with one of the best controllers ever...Happy Birthday! :smashed:

Happy B day, I only own 2 Sega Saturn games at the moment so really don't know what the console has to offer though I've read a bit about it.

Happy birthday to the system with the best library ever!!!!

And I was always fond of the original US controllers. The triggers kinda sucked, but I've got big hands so the contour of the controller always felt nice to me.

Though my favorite Saturn controller are the JP Bomberman controllers. Those are nice.

considering how botched the launch was, shouldn't we be mourning instead?

Perhaps you should celebrate on the Japanese launch anniversary but mourn it on the US launch. I mean really I think the US Saturn got screwwed pretty bad where as the JP Saturn got some real gems.

Don't start the "if" game. If alot of things happened differently the impact could have been huge. But they didn't. And there is no real way to know what would have made a difference and what wouldn't have.

Curiously, the US release was a week after the release in Brazil. It's kinda funny, since the Brazilian console was just a US console with PAL-M output. Plus all the games were pressed in US (cases and manuals printed down here).

    Anyway, happy birthday Sega Saturn.
