I know it's a bit early but we're leaving for a long drive to Texas for Thanksgiving in a couple of hours...hope everyone has a great turkey day....I know this only affects U.S. boardmembers so happy late November Thursday to all outside the u.s. Eat turkey anyway...it's good stuff... :smt042 :smt023
go eat your tasteless turkey, i'll go eat some chalupas, fajitas, tacos, mole :smt033 . Happy thanks giving people :-D
We had moles in the yard once... annoying animals, made holes everywhere. If I catch any more, I'll send them your way, ok Eva? Happy Thanksgiving to everyone as well! I was hoping to be able to spend the weekend with my family, but class and work schedules have me stuck in this miserable apartment living off of the usual unhealthy crap. :smt022
Lets see if I can break the record and eat about Turkey Drumstick, Turkey breast, half a pound of rice with pigeon peas ALL topped with gravy, and 2-3 pumpkin pies. Im gonna have to eat light Wednesday and give mysefl an enema :smt043 . Just kidding, I'll eat light on wednesday and not eat at all Thursday.
Despite my father's US background, I have never celebrated Thanksgiving... in fact, every year I forget what day it is :-( A few years ago we planned to celebrate it with the other Americans in town (about 40) but nothing has come of it :-(
I'm gonna have to wait another month for my turkey! Hey, if you 'merkins have turkey on Thanksgiving, what do you eat on christmas? Turkey again would be a bit boring...
I am with Evangelion01 on this, turkey is a boring meat, hardly any flavour unless you roast it with some (a lot of) herbs/garlic. Still have it (for xmas) as its "traditional", but did have both turkey and a roast beef one time, that was more interesting!
Turkey is the rather traditional Thanksgiving meat, and Christmas, while turkey is also used, it's not uncommon to see ham or roast beef as well. And if you think turkey is flavorless, then you're not doing it right or you don't have any gravy. :smt023 MMMMMmmm... I don't get any this year. :smt022
We roast the turkey with lemon and herbs; it comes out quite well, very juicy. As for Xmas, it's traditional in my family to have lasagna since my grandmother's Italian.
Sorry to hear that GSL :smt009 I too am looking forward to Thanksgiving, and I wish a happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate.
How dare you! my roast dinners are to die for! my gravy is 3rd only to my mother and sister's! mine usually ends up a bit too thick after leaving it too long and doing the rest of the food. I make my own gravy as well, none of this packet lark! If you are ever in the UK GSL, I will do you a nice roast! Hmm... could "break in" the oven in the new house with a roast dinner this weekend... :smt045
I'm going surfing tomorrow, then to a Thanksgiving party on Friday. This is my first Turkey Day back in the states, and isn't quite traditional. Kstyle -- what part of Texas are you going to?
Yeah, me too. :smt009 Hopefully you can find something decent to eat that is somewhat deserving of a Thanksgiving meal. ;-) Happy Thanksgiving everyone. :smt023
