    Computer type Compaq Presario Desktop
    OS XP Media Player
    CPU Pentium4 631 (C) HT 3.0 GHz

Ive got 3 IDE slots and four SATA slots

The First IDE slot has 2 DVD writers in.
The First Sata Slot had a 250 gig Hard disk in.

Ive found 2 IDE drives (both 320 western Digital) I want to connect them up ising a an IDE slot but for the life of me they are not showing up in Window under My computer. Under system list they are connected. Why dont they show up?

Are they already formatted in something that windows understands (NTFS/FAT32 etc)?

have you checked in disc management to see if they are visible there?

on xp, admin tools, computer managment, disc managment

you may need to initialise them in there, and assign them with a driveletter to show up in 'my computer'
