Hardware based memory dumping/searching...

    a little off-topic but would it be possible to add a i-link port to a 50k unit, or do they lack some significant hardware?

    would like to use kermit's live memory editing :X

    Actually they never removed the iLINK PHY from the IOP. What they did was remove the termination resistors and the 24mhz clock oscillator for the iLINK port.

    So while it might be doable, it might not be practical. :shrug:


    The older units are functionally identical to the 50k, including the earliest 10/15/18k PCMCIA models. So kind of moot point, even ... :nod:

    hm....so it "would" be possible. i just asked because i only have this one model, SCPH-50004 Satin Silver. would have been neat to use it on this model :p .

    Thanks for clearing this up. I haven't been using FPGAs in the past 3 years. Just was thinking of a similar setup like bunnie used to trap on the hypertransport bus on the xbox where he had to trap a 400 mb/s bus with a even worse FPGA. Afaik he used a converter chip to get the signal right to the FPGA. Would be interesting to know if the 400 Mhz dual channel bus which has something like 3000 Mb/s or something is hackable in a similar fashion.
