Price does really matter and we should be rational while making such kind of decisions. I found one quoting £250 odd for 90 minutes.
WeGotGamez We run a game truck company. We have a one of a kind set-up as far as we can tell. The majority of game trucks have bench seating, which is fine, but restricts you to the type of parties you can host, which is; boogers and bubble gum. We on the other hand have individual seating, which delivers a more personalized feel. Sure, technically less kids will fit inside, but that is why we have 2 55" HDTV's on the outside for Kinect games. But our game trailer is perfect for team building events, tournaments, and still be perfect for boogers and bubble gum. In relation to this thread, I have never sat in a bench seating game trailer, but I know it involves lots of split screens, screen peaking and noise ! But all the videos of our competitors I watched, the kids are still having a blast. I also know the industry is saturated with game trucks. They spring up everywhere, and a lot of them put their rig back on the market within a year. I don't want to discourage anyone from going into this business, I would just like to suggest finding a niche inside the industry. Combining a bounce house or something similar would be a good idea. Bounce house businesses fail often also, but for the amount of those kinds of parties combines should keep a company afloat and bring in some nice revenue. Or even laser tag. I am willing to discuss some of things that work, and things that don't for anyone looking to get into this business, so long as you aren't opening a company in our backyard(Sacramento, CA). Just shoot me an email at dongriffin@wegotgamez.com, it might take a day or so to get back to you. ~ Don @ WeGotGamez.com
A VR truck would be pretty dope, with some 2K headsets, those running platforms with kinects for tracking and gun controllers. That's the kind of equipment that takes several thousands dollars to buy and a lot of space to own which most people don't have. Renting one for a LAN party of sorts would be a blast
I can't imagine how such a business would even work. Maybe because I'm Dutch and we on average don't have enough room for placing a truck somewhere or you would need to specially rent an field (which isn't done often and those are few to begin with). But other than that I simply can't see how this would be profitable if it was, as others pointed out. Maybe if you could offer a way of playing you can't get somewhere else, but all that I can imagine would also skyrocket the overhead cost.
Seems as though the OP has given up on this thread. I was also baffled by the concept, but I'm way over on the east coast. Maybe we're just not exposed to these as much.
I was in Seattle and now the Dallas area and never saw them outside of promotional purposes - by the actual company. I think the OP gave up and ran off after someone did some math on how little you'd make.
Yeah, that was my thought as well. If arcades are now dead in the US, I couldn't really see this idea flourishing. Problem would be repeat business and its not like people don't have access to games.
Staying profitable is a deathtrap with them unless all you offer is Kinect and Call of Duty but even then - keeping up with the latest COD for multiple consoles is suicide. There was a Xbox LAN center in the mall that closed within a year, it just isn't financially viable
