I've developed a few games myself over the last few years and i would quite like to port one to the switch. i know i need to register on the Nintendo development portal and need to have access to a Switch Dev kit, but is there anyone info you would have found invaluable before starting your switch development? Thanks in Advance
As far as I am aware, registering as an individual on the Nintendo Dev Portal will only gain you access to the 3DS and WiiU platforms. I registered before the release of the Switch and I have not been offered any access to that platform. But if you do manage to register as a Switch developer, then you would have access to their forums where you would likely find the best advice.
Basically anyone can get into NDP at this point, as they have it set to auto approve. When you do get in you will only have access to Wii u and 3DS stuff though. You'd probably have to ask Nintendo to give you access to the switch side of things.
From what I have read you need to produce a pitch for your game (including design docs, development history of the company, etc) and email them to Damon Baker. This article he gives a few outlines of what they are looking for. https://www.destructoid.com/nintend...ted-on-the-switch-and-some-don-t-495966.phtml
I spoke to some indie devs at PAX AUS last year who told me that Nintendo will reach out to a developer if they want the game on Switch. Devs who had contacted Nintendo were told to wait for Nintendo to get back to them. That might just be here in Australia, though.
Shot in the dark here - are you strmnnrmn from the Daedalus PSP project, or is the name just a coincidence?
