As we all know, its now the lovely time of year when all the bugs come out.

Luckily for me, I seem to have a few more carpenter ants then I'd like in my kitchen. Since I'm sick of staking out trying to kill them, I'm going to give Terro ant bait a shot.

The only thing I'm freaked out about is, am I going to see a swarm of carpenter ants all over my kitchen(or at least in a path to the bait)? It seems too creepy, then again, the living ants are even more annoying.

Also, will I find a stash of dead carpenter ants after a week or so?

Is this that liquid ant bait you drip near them and they swarm to?

If so, that's good. Used it at my old job when we get some ant infestations. Next day they are all gone and dead.

Go and buy the stuff you spray around the foundation of the house. Lasts months.

I need to get rid of some bugs myself. I need a pet-friendly substance, though, as I have two cats and an insane amount of parakeets.

Is there something like that that kills cockroaches and similar pests? is there a pet safe solution?

Oh, well then I would recommend you buy some caulk and recaulk all along the foundation , it should be easy to see where they are coming in from.

You can also dig a drainage trench around the house , line with plastic and fill with stones. Add value, improves drainage, removes dampness from the basement.

As to the safe stuff, nothing is safe for birds.

I had to move mine for a few days after spraying.

There's a chemical called pyretherin made from marigolds, it works but is
still toxic to fish and birds.

Best bet is to track the source outside, and close up the entry points.

Spiders are beginng to come out again. I think when somebody came to fix part of our loft they pulled the insulation up and didn't put it back down and I fear they may be nesting in a big pile of it.

Might fit the bill. At worst I could see your cats deciding the stuff is sand and using it for a litterbox.

The ants seem to love water, as when I cleaned up a leak and patched it up, they stopped coming.

I use this stuff all the time, but i always put inside our window seal so we dont have to see the ants, and also they do not die inside they take the food back to the queen/young and it kills them in there own home :).
