Well, lately I have been reading two forums that have what I believe are the best seemingly real ghost stories I have EVER heard or read. One is on a nurses forum and the other is on a Law Enforcement forum. They seem real to me because the writing is not great and the setting is always while these people are at work:

    http://allnurses.com/general-nursing-discussion/whats-your-best-108202.html

    http://forums.officer.com/t131677/

So that brings me to my topic. Are there any stories of video games or consoles that are haunted, cursed, etc? Now before anyone posts them, I am familiar with the Dead Pokemon story and the PS1 memory card with the name "tomy" written on it or something like that. Both of these stories are pretty boring in my opinion, so please don't reference them unless you know some new info beyond the well worm stuff posted on the web. I don't have any personally, so I can't contribute the first one. But, anything out there? My guess is Japan would be a good source, because the videogame playing community is quite old there and with Tsunamis and Earthquakes there should be "lost souls" all over the place.

Thats what I figured, but they are not writen in English, nor are there any western equvilants. My hope was that some of the folks who reside in Japan could pass on some of the best ones here on the forum.

This is the one I see all the time, as well as the fake Majora's Mask and the PS1 memory card.

I had this NES that would flash at me, over and over while displaying the title screen of Contra. I'd get up and leave the room only for it to be working when I got back until I sat down. THEN IT'D BLINK AND BLINK OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

    Clearly possessed.

Not really a haunted story but close enough, so this one day a customer walks early morning Friday with a broken Pstwo console, DRE, our sales lady tests and books in the console (serial number, deposit, fault report etc...) I fix the console and the customer comes to collect it at 1 in the afternoon (our busy period) sales lady reconnects the console to the front TV we use for testing as the customer insisted on testing his games (not that uncommon) unfortunately the phone rang or she got busy with other customers, but as soon as she turned her back, the customer, unplugged the console and walked away with it, unpayed.

Of course we realized what happened and phoned his cell, and left multiple messages saying that he has just committed theft and we will open a case unless he payed in the following morning.

Sadly a week passes we opened a case at the cops and wrote the money off, until one normal day we get a young couple in with a console we had fixed that failed, was giving DRE and now refused to display anything on the screen, something thats normally not related to each other.

Lo-and behold when we booked it in and on the system it matched the stolen serial number, phoned the cops, kept them inside while waiting for the cops, who immediately tells them to contact the original owner of the machines as it was unpayed for.

Phone the guy up, and he gives the normal "oh I am so sorry , but it must have slipped my mind, and I am no longer using my old phone BS" Now reluctant to pay as the console no longer works according to him.

Meanwhile I reconnected the system to our TV and guess what it played flawlessly and displayed perfect on our TV, even with the games they bought with.

At the end of the day we agreed to drop the charges if he payed the original price in full and was barred from shopping in our center ever again, and his "family/the young couple".

Fate or his own stupidity, who knows, but that console according to him "stopped working" and fixed itself right when he returned it, and forced him to pay what he wanted to steal originally.

PS I dont believe in possessed consoles, as Ive fixed way too many strange acting consoles to make me believe otherwise.

My roommate has a possessed turn table and sound receiver. The turn table will turn it's self on and start playing (if there is a record in there) all by it's self. The receiver will turn it's volume all the way up, you could be watching a movie then all of sudden the volume goes full blast. Now it has turn it's self down too, but that doesn't happen mach times.

If they have IR remote receivers, it could be a stray shot from something compatible. Every now and then two separate devices will use the same frequency range for different things. We once had a VCR that would shut off from the TV remote from another room.

Yeah, I figure it's (Receiver) just picking something up and turns the volume up. As for the turn table it doesn't have a remote any fashion, so I think it's possessed! LOL :D

Don't know many besides the ones from creepypasta (pokemon, and zelda majora's mask).

Read a couple more but most were all crap :p , though the pokemon and zelda ones are great to read when bored at work.

I thought of another story. Supposedly first-run NBA Jam arcade machines were haunted, shouting out Drazen Petrovic's name randomly at the attract mode. He had recently died in a car crash in Germany when the game was first popular. I can't find a video of it (which doesn't at all imply that it's false...or anything).

A friend of mine has a great story, but he is not a member here so I will tell it for him.

He and his pal imported an N64 with Mario Kart back in early 1997 from Japan, prior to the release in their home territory. They had crazy good times with it and usually got really damn high when they played Mario Kart. Apparently, one time they smoked a big chunk of pot but didn't notice that the living room window was open (ground floor). After a couple of rounds, they turned around and saw that a crowd of neighbor's kids were watching them play, amazed by the new console that they so far had only seen in magazines, if at all. But they also saw how my friend and his pal had smoked a bong for around half an hour.

My friend panicked and jumped up to close the curtains, but he dracked the N64 off the shelf and it fell on the cartridge. According to him, ever after this incident, his freshly imported N64 would ONLY play Mario Kart. The cartridge connector was not visibly bent and the game was still running on other consoles, but his Japanese N64 was from now on just willing to play Mario Kart, without any issues to this day.

Upon consulting several ghostbusters, we came to the conclusion that higher powers punished him for the demonstration of halucinatory drug consumption to minors. It's officially haunted.
