Hey everyone, Whilst everyone who knows about server's seems to be online I thought now might be a good time to ask. Probably simple stuff to anyone else but I have never done this before and I am having some problems. I am trying create a network from the server at work to add a new PC. We had a HDD failure on Tuesday last week and long story short its a new HDD in there. The server is running SBS2003 and the PC I am trying to connect is running XP. I need to get them to connect and then share programs from the server onto the PC. Where do I start? EDIT: 500 posts yay!
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324267 Are you saying that you want to be able to access the files from home?
No not remote access. I am trying to add a new PC to the network via the modem connection. I have managed to link them now and can open different files, print, access office programs etc.... without a problem but I am trying to install a program we had written for us using the setup.exe for it but when I drill down into it I get the following error - Can't run 16-bit Windows program Cannot find file blahblahblah\SETUP.exe (or one of its components). Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are avilable. I am now stuck again.
try running the program in virtual machine or compatability mode, it is also possible that your trying to run the app in a 64 bit os
If the program is really old, you might want to try installing it on a Virtual Machine such as VMware server or MS Virtual PC.
