From what I can tell, my TV does have a AV slot on the back for high definition, and will play the 360 in high definition mode if I turn it on that particular AV slot (However, it is still on Normal mode for the 360). Here is the thing, the image comes up, but not the sound. The other thing is this: When I try to change the AV cord for the 360 to HD, the image won't appear. Basically, does this mean that there is something I am missing, or does my TV only support a certain kind of HD?
you'll need to run the sound to the av jacks on input one or similar. should be the three for video, and two for audio. Your tv might not support progressive scan, only component. Check tv and xbox settings.
Make/model of the TV would help some as all TV's are different. I guess my first question is exactly how do you have the 360 hooked up? I am assuming that the AV cables you are using are component cables. These have three video connectors (red, green, blue) and two audio connectors (red, white). You must have all five of these cables plugged in correctly in order to get sound and video. Technically, there is a different method of connecting audio: the optical cable. You generally cannot have both the optical and red/white cables connected to the same device (some can handle it, some can't). There are settings within the 360 that you can setup both the audio and the video. You should check to make sure that your TV supports the HD mode (720p or 1080i) that you are trying to use. Same goes for the audio (Pro Logic/Stereo or Dolby Digital/Surround).
Ah! I see now. My TV had the sound AV input in a seperate section from the video AV imput. Sound is working just fine now! Thanks, been trying to get this to work for weeks now.
