did you use ESR to launch ule to get into the gt4 cdfs? because that might not work. because i tried something similar patching hackchip's disc esr, and then use ule(with esr on) file browser to launch the elfs, but that dose not work(black screen)with the hdd-utility and bb-navi installers.
Yeah the disc is ESR patched and works on other consoles except the one that I want to use it on. The first one I tried it on doesn't see any hard drives, so I can't use it on that console. Does the SLES elf load the others? Or do you have to load each one individually?
what i did was, use champions of norrath pal original dvd-9 game, and swap it for a non esr patched dvd-rw copy of hackchip's disc. then launch the hdd-utility installer elf, not the bogus menu elf from the disc which is broken anyway , and there you go the installer should boot up and will say something that no hdd is connected, if you have no sony hdd in the ps2. that way it "should" bootup, atleast for me . edit: so using esr is NOT good
ESR DOES NOT WORK because the ELF on the utility disc has embedded modules inside of the encrypted files and these will AWAYS replace the modules on the console (bypassing and defeating completely ESR). The only way to boot it without a modchip is COGSWAP. (Basically that's what you did, even if it was in a clumsy way)
I use my ESR patched dual layer game to load onto the cdfs screen then exit out of there, then swap discs with hackchips one and go back into the cdfs screen and from there start loading the elf files. But I'm still getting black screens. I might just try and do the MBR fix and put the files where they should be and see how it goes. I'm beginning to think that it's just me. I might just buy a US console and be done with it. My Linux discs should be here in the next couple of days anyway.
I'll have a busy week starting tomorrow, but later on we can arrange some method of direct contact and I can help you with the stuff. There's not really much need of obtaining an US console unless you plan on playing original HDD games (Mostly the only one which still works: Final Fantasy XI) with it.
That would be really cool man thanks man, I would appreciate it. I'm probably not doing something right. I know there are a lot of people that have done this, but because of the "questionable legal files", I can't find how to do it anywhere. I've followed all the instructions but still keep getting black screens and nothing. I re-formatted my drive again today using Ulaunchelf's HDD manager, and then tried again, but then all it did was just keep booting back into the browser menu. Before that I had pre-copied all the files that I got from richi902 into the respective places and some extra ones that you have on 4shared and was getting a black screen using the hackchips disc. I gave up on the HDD Utility Disc because it was doing the same thing. Oh okay, I thought that you could still get the HOSDSYS on the US console?? But I quess that I'm wrong. Cause that's all that really I'm after. I would love it soo much to be able to boot games and ODEM manager straight from the browser.
