I had to format my OS and reinstall windows after a crash and now I am unable to get HDL GUI to detect the hard disk while its connected via an external case. It says the the "HDD does not have a comapatible HDL dump" I am running the app as an admin and using a drive that used to work prior to the OS re installation. The drive loads fine on the PS2 as well. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
My issue here is that HDL DUMP Server GUI is not recognizing the drive anymore. It used to work fine prior to reinstalling my operating system on my PC. I know its not the drive because its working fine on the ps2. Also WinHiip detects it without issues. I need HDL Gui because Winhiip won't allow you to install/remove games if you have more than 250 of them on the drive.
I haven't tried, but I would rather connect via USB like I used to as it is more convenient and a lot faster than ethernet.
My point was to rule out issues with USB. If u can connect and transfer games over Ethernet then your issue lies with pc --> USB communication, drivers or compatibility.
So transferring games using Ethernet works fine. Also, using a different app called HDL DUMB, which is from a different developer I guess works and detects HDD through USB. I would have settled with that however there does not seem to be an option for removing games! Only installing. So the issue now is definitely with my PC. I reinstalled Java and even downgraded to JRE 7 and still HDL DUMP SERVER GUI is not detecting my HDD using USB. I'm pulling my hair here
Have you tried running it as admin? I don't know about HDLGUI but I know that WinHiip requires admin on 7 or later
Yes it is required to be run as admin in order to access the HDD normally. Used to work fine before I reinstalled the OS. Just tried on another PC and it's having the same issue
Hey, it's now not bad. I made HDLGameInstaller transfer at 5MB/s, with TCP. I have not used the HDLDump helper much. But is "HDD does not have a compatible HDL dump" the message that it shows? The HDD itself does not involve HDLDump, so I guess this means that you do not have the HDLDump program alongside the HDLDump GUI? The GUI is usually only the front-end for HDLDump, so you still need the command-line HDLDump program.
