Thats right it looks like Microsoft is putting the HDMI port in to prem model xbox 360s now. Right now people are still looking in to it because Microsoft have made no mention of including the feature in upcoming iterations of the premium or core Xbox 360 SKUs. The manufacturing date is July 4, 2007and heres the link to the image. What do you think? another hoax or the real deal? http://www.shacknews.com/screenshots.x?gallery=8063&id=103384
then what's the point of getting an elite, besides a bigger HDD? Hopefully they stop selling the shitty core, drop the elite, and focus on making one model not give you the RROD.
According to Ars, once MS sells their entire stock of old Core and premium they'll release new models with HDMI,quieter DVDs and...........65nm chips! From Ars: According to my source, Microsoft wants to cut through all their existing inventory of hardware. They will then quietly "soft launch" a new version of the Core and Premium hardware in late August or September that will include an HDMI port. It's also expected that this new hardware will feature the 65nm process for the CPU and quieter DVD drives. The new hardware will ship in boxes very similar to what we saw on store shelves now, but there will be a small "call out" on the box so you know you're getting a system with the HDMI connection. I'm sure the difference of which will have the HDMI or not can be easily found by the serial numbers or SKUs. I'm sure there will be a difference in the numbers so that you can tell which it is before you buy and open up the box.
The style of lettering on the date of Mfg is different so if it is real then it is a prototype. I was just sent a new replacement this week (even though I requested and was assured I'd get back my original) that had 7/23/07 as the Mfg date and it had no HDMI on it. So count me as pissed if they are being mass produced. Oh well, I guess they'll send me one once this one bricks. BTW: They must have found some old stock of Toshiba/LG drives when they made mine because the thing is no quieter than the last one.
I was under the impression that the newest 360s (that were produced last month) already had 65nm cpus.
They probably do, but MS are not going to announce it and screw over retail. If they did they'd have to do a pricedrop like Sony did with the 60GB PS3.
It's official. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=27488 My understanding is that this HDMI port is, like the Elite, not fully featured in so far is it cannot transmit lossless (TureHD or DolbyHD) audio, but perhaps someone could confirm?
what I don't get is that MS is reluctant to make HDD's standard due to the shitty core and the cheap consumers that bought it, yet they are perfectly fine screwing the people who paid more for the elite for the features they are now putting into the premium. The bigger HDD can be bought separately now regardless.
People have confirmed these Premium models basically just use the same motherboard the Elite does. This also confirmed that they don't have the 65nm chips yet. And I totally agree, they need to make the fucking HDD standard or atleast allow games the option of requiring it. Why should you limit developers cause some people were too cheap to buy a HDD? Besides if you allow developers to use it, the people that don't have one will buy one if it's not ridiculusly overpriced.
I know, without the 65nm chips I'm sure heat is still a large problem as we've seen Elite systems breaking down just as much as any others. They should have switched to 65nm along time ago.
